Easter Wonderland at Eastwood
MANILA, Philippines - Eastwood City, the premiere township development of Megaworld Corporation, will be partnering with the Urban Opportunities for Change Foundation (UOCF), a non-profit organization that champions the Homeless World Cup Philippine Team.
Eastwood City will donate part of its Easter festivity revenues to the team, which will compete in the Homeless World Cup to be held in Brazil in September.
“We chose to partner with UOCF because we believe in their advocacy of giving our homeless brothers a chance to be ‘born again’ by giving them an opportunity at a better life, through entrepreneurship and by excelling in sports. This Easter celebration is all about giving our homeless brothers and their families a long-lasting joy,” says Kevin Tan, commercial division head, Megaworld.
“A project like this is a unique and powerful opportunity to bring change in the communities and lives of the poor,” explains Bill Shaw, UOCF CEO.
Aside from the donations, UOFC will also be selling Jeepney magazines, the Philippines’ street paper with alliances worldwide, during the Easter fair to provide livelihood to its vendors who come mostly from the depressed areas.
“This year, we’re making our Easter Wonderland bigger — now featuring seven Worlds, compared to last year’s five — and more entertaining with more booths and freebies,” adds Tan.
Seven Worlds of Play and Imagination will be spread out in the entire Eastwood City commercial development, each one with a unique and interesting theme.
Eastwood Mall Open Park will be home to two main attractions: the Art Planet and the Animal Ville, which will feature egg-painting sessions with Fernando Sena, pony rides, and a petting zoo.
The Food Factory will be at the Eastwood Mall Atrium where CCA, Pizza Hut, Mrs. Q Cupcakes, Sandwich Guy and Krispy Kreme will recreate their food factory, share their cooking techniques, and give out free food samplers.
The Eastwood Central Plaza will house the World of Inflatables, the Game Warp, and Science Emporium, featuring free games from Q Power Station and Timezone, and fun interactive exhibits.
Imagination comes to life at Toy Land along Eastwood City Walk 2 with giant board games, popular characters, and toy giveaways.
Kids will also get a chance to win Nintendo DS Lites, Sony PSPs and iPod shuffles from the Easter Wonderland raffle and special prizes at the Easter Wonderland Golden Egg Hunt.
There will be an Easter parade from 2:45 p.m. onwards starting at the Art Planet. It will feature a drum and bugle corps, costume contestants, mascots, My Talent dancers, cosplayers, and bikers from Flipbykes.
The players and advocates of the Homeless World Cup Philippine Team will lead a ceremonial soccer kick to start their quest for a homerun against poverty.
Wonderland passports are priced at P500, which entitles a kid to a one-time access to booths and activities and two adults for company. In excess, adults will have to pay an additional P50 per head to enter the fair.
Wonderland passports are available until March 31 at the Eastwood Mall Concierge. On-day registration will start at 11 a.m. The Easter Wonderland will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Easter Sunday.
