Odon Sabarre, dance scholars at Visit Philippines

Odon Sabarre, first artist in residence of Region VIII, together with Samar dance scholars, is perform-ing at the "Visit Philippines Year" Clamshell in Intramuros, Manila from Sept. 25 to 27. The group will also be performing in Concert at the Park at Rizal Park on Sept. 28, at 5 p.m.
Sabarre has been conducting for a year the Samar dance scholarship program, particularly in Catbalogan and Calbayog, through the sponsorship of Samar Governor Mila Tan and Representative Antonio "Eddie" Nachura.
The program includes classic, jazz, modern, interpretative and stylized folk dances, like the popular Samarnon kuratsa.
Sabarre is the artistic director of the People Center School Dance in Tacloban City. He handles the dance scholarship program for the indigent sponsored by Leyte Governor Remedios Petilla.
The performances of Sabarre and the Samar dance scholars are part of the Eastern Visayas showcase, on view until Sept. 31 at the "Visit Philippines Year" area in Intramuros.
The program, initiated by Tourism Secretary Richard Gordon, showcases the arts, culture and industry of the different regions of the country.
