Cebu welcomes Expose Salons new home

In the late Seventies, young Stephan Zenz obtained his hard-earned license as a barber and hairdresser in Basle, Switzerland. In the years that followed, he trained in London as a driven apprentice with the citys leading and finest salons, the innovative trailblazer Vidal Sassoon and at the prestigious Pierre Alexandre of Manchester.
Twelve years ago, together with his enterprising Filipino wife Margie, they opened their very first shop, Expose Salon, in an unpretentious locale.
The Cebuanos more than just welcomed them. They came in droves, all pilgrims for a never-had-before hairdressing experience. So all was well.
However, some months ago, an accidental fire sadly disastrously reduced the parlor into a heap of rubble. But this unfortunate incident did not put an end to Expose Salon.
As a matter of fact, determined more than ever before to continue attending to and serving their loyal, unchanging clients, the talented pair reopened its doors recently at the where-friends-meet-friends Crossroad Complex in uptown, upscale Banilad, with full-of-ideas publicist Eva Gullas and in-demand architect for several projects Ed Gallego as guests of honor.
Adding panache to the occasion were the mini fashion show featuring Cebus foremost trendsetter designers Jun Escario of Bacchus and Oj Hofer and the combined culinary knack and aptness of French chef Laurent and Manila-based food guru Ed Quimson.
There is nothing frivolous about the new site. It is cozy and radiates the aura of tranquillity, reflecting the working philosophy of the couple behind the establishment.
Stephan and Margie would like to think that having the perfect haircut is the driving force that draws in the customers. But I say, its more than just that. Its the excellent service one is pampered with, using good quality products and an exceptional aftercare program.
For at the end of the day, no matter what kind one has survived, if the hairdresser gives you that feel-good sensation and you are happy with how you look, then it could well be you have just found your soulmate salon.
I know I have found mine at Expose.
