Uniqlo Active

MANILA, Philippines — Uniqlo’s LifeWear brand philosophy has connected with Filipinos through stylish, quality and timeless pieces that are wearable and versatile. Its latest collections, most of them unveiled at the recent Uniqlo SS18 event held at One Canvas in Makati, cater to different personalities and lifestyles, with fun items that elevate the summer wardrobe — Marimekko polka-dots, JW Anderson Breton stripes, Tomas Maier brights, and Uniqlo U, UT and Smart Casual basics. My personal favorites are the Uniqlo Linen and Active lines, which have become my humid-weather staples.

Finnish designer Marimekko combines quirky prints with Uniqlo's street-style aesthetic.

Uniqlo U’s latest collection comes in a forest and nature-inspired palette and include new items such as the 3D Crew Neck Balloon Dress, and the new Crewneck T-shirt. Uniqlo Jeans updates the women’s boyfriend heans in a new masculine fit, as well as cigarette pants in new spring colors.

UT must-haves

Uniqlo’s latest lineup of UT — Uniqlo T-shirts — sees traditional and modern pop culture graphics from Japan and all over the world. Other graphics include Studio Sanderson for Uniqlo, which features Sanderson florals and embroidery for adults and kids. Uniqlo is also rolling out the SPRZ NY EAMES T-shirt line, which celebrates the contributions of Charles and Ray Eames to modern design, art and culture.

Jonathan Anderson looks to 1950s Brighton
beach for his second Uniqlo collection.

JW Anderson

Jonathan Anderson’s second collection for Uniqlo is inspired by the British summer, 1950s Brighton beach to be exact. The designer describes the pieces as lightweight, airy, with lots of linen and cotton. It’s made up of wardrobe needs — striped shirts, bucket hats and seagull print totes — as well as some wants, such as a pocketable parka made of DRY-EX fabric that reduces wrinkles.

Tomas Maier

Bottega Veneta creative director Tomas Maier’s first collaboration with Uniqlo brings his beach-inspired leisure style to the brand. Launching this summer, the collection carries pieces that travel well and are mix-and-matchable, perfect for laid-back summer trips.

MarimekkoXUniqlo will be available on April 2, JWAndersonXUniqlo on April 20, and TomasMaierXUniqlo this summer.
