Diptyque is better than roses

Diptyque is better than roses

Diptyque Rose Delight comes in a 190g and 70g scented candle.

To some people, receiving a bouquet of flowers can be very underwhelming. Sure, it’s sweet — according to romantic comedies. But it kind of also says, “I realized I didn’t know you well enough to get you anything that references our time together or your interests.” It says, “I didn’t have the time to buy that thing you wanted, so I hope this bouquet of roses, which makes me feel better, makes up for that.” Of course, not all relationships are created equal and there are some who love flowers and would be happy to receive them, but there are other things that make for way better gifts. Like scented candles.

I read once that candles are the new mugs of gifting. I disagree. Scented candles don’t die the next day. They don’t start smelling bad when they’re about to die. In fact, they smell great all the time, even as they die. Which is why it would be a good idea to get your partner a candle, although not just any candle. Please don’t get one from the hardware store. Your best option is Diptyque’s Rose Delight.

Here’s what Diptyque’s Rose Delight says when you give it as a gift: “I noticed you’ve been using the container of your old candle (Baies? Baeis? Bae?) to hold your makeup brushes. I thought it must be special because you post a lot of photos of that. So I got you a new one. Since I don’t know anything about Diptyque, I chose the newest scent. The lady said it’s their Valentine’s Day release. Plus, it’s millennial pink and smells like roses. It goes with your whole aesthetic.” Trust me, you will get a lot of points for that. And if you break up, it would forever remind her of your good taste (because nobody throws away a Diptyque glass).

Diptyque Rose Delight was inspired by the story of a very rich sultan who loved cooking and keeping recipes. His favorite? Rose water-infused Turkish delight, which used to woo potential mistresses. The resulting candle smells a little bit like roses, a little bit like dessert. The best of both worlds. The Toile de Jouy-printed packaging was designed by French illustrator and graphic designer Leslie David, who has had projects with Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Adidas and Nike. The candles come in 70g and 190g. If you’re on a budget, there’s no shame in getting her the smaller one. In this case, the thought counts for a lot.

Diptyque Rose Delight is a collection that includes a 100-gram Eau Rose Hair Fragrance, and the Rose Delight Scented Oval, which would also make for nice gifts. If you’re feeling generous, or have done something to piss her off, I suggest getting her the entire range.
