Designer surprised by Pia Wurtzbach's decision to wear his gown
MANILA, Philippines - What started as a backup gown ended up being the lovely dress that capped off the Miss Universe's homecoming parade.
On Tuesday, fashion designer Mark Bessie Besana took to Facebook to recall how his beige dress, which was supposed to be just an alternate gown, was chosen by Pia Wurtzbach for her Araneta parade.
According to his post, Wurtzbach was set to wear Albert Andrada all throughout the parade, but he was surprised when Wurtzbach asked for his gown few minutes before facing the crowd.
"She told me, 'Where is your gown, I'm gonna wear it.' As a trained P.A. cum friend to beauty queens (haha!), immediately we changed the outfit not thinking of whats gonna happen next. She looked lovely and radiant," he said on his post.
Besana said he was utterly surprised and honored that Wurtzbach let him dress her for his homecoming. Moreover, he was humbled that the 26-year-old beauty queen even offered her to wear the dress again for more exposure.
"When Pia went back to the room, she told me 'Do you want me to wear it again? Parang konti ang exposure.'. And I was teary eyed. I told her "No, its OK. I can make you more."
