A daily treatment conditioner to the rescue

STYLE S.O.S. - The Philippine Star

DEAR RISSA,

I’m super tamad to take care of my hair. I’m the wash-and-wear type and I don’t even use conditioner. But I’m starting to see the bad effects of not caring for my hair. How do you take care of your hair? Do you have a special routine?

SOFIA

I’ve always felt that great cut and color are pointless if you don’t take care of your hair. In fact, even if you have good makeup and the perfect outfit on, but if your hair is terrible, it ruins everything.

First, I make it a point to use a wide-toothed comb to untangle my hair after every shower. Keep in mind that when hair is wet, the strands are more fragile and prone to breakage. It pays to be gentle with your hair when it’s at its most delicate. I also give my hair a regular dose of goodness: I condition my hair every single day! For me, better hair means more time to spare.

My current favorite is Cream Silk Daily Treatment Conditioner Dry Rescue. It combines both the powers of a conditioner and the intensive care of a treatment. Try to incorporate a double-duty product like this in your daily shower routine. That extra step can spell a big difference.

One of the hottest celebrity hair stylists, Raymond Santiago, who is responsible for creating bombshell hairstyles for some of the brightest stars today, including Anne Curtis, shares his thoughts on the importance of the right conditioner: “I always tell them — especially Anne — to invest in the right hair care routine. Shampoos are never enough. They will clean your hair, but the conditioner will restore life and moisture.”

As a model, my hair is often subjected to so much styling, heat, and product overload from photo shoots and fashion shows. Hair repair products like Cream Silk Daily Treatment Conditioner Dry Rescue can restore moisture, tame the frizzes, and help reconstruct weak hair. I get so kilig every time I get commended for the healthy condition of my hair. Indeed, good habits give great-looking hair.

Easy dressing: Karen Millen clothes are cut a certain way to flatter the figure and are easy to wear, like this iris print dress.

Wanted: figure-flattering clothes

DEAR LUCY,

I need dresses that fit close to the body, in nice prints, and flattering cuts. I get frustrated with custom-made clothes because they may look good on paper, but the execution can fall short sometimes. Where can I find nice dresses here in Manila? I also like the idea of cardigans, but how do I dress them up?

RINGBEE

One of my favorites is Karen Millen. The clothes are cut a certain way to flatter the figure. They are easy to wear and can be dressed up or down. Banana Republic also has nice basics, the quality is good and the styles are classic. Bespoke has its appeal, and can be rewarding when you find a designer whose clothes are not only designed well but also fall perfectly. When you find one like that, never let him/her go. Cardigans are another one of my favorites. For a more polished look, get those that are cut close to the body. Wear with a skirt. And heels. Never fails. If you have body issues, it never hurts to wear the right underwear. Spanx if you must!
