Long hair, don’t care

#NOFILTER - Chonx Tibajia - The Philippine Star

Asia’s Next Top Model’s new host Georgina Wilson said it: growing out your hair is not easy. Several factors come into play and force one to cut — including dryness, frizz and split ends. Still, the idea of having long hair is irresistible, especially when spring/summer runways dictate its resurgence. (How fast we’ve grown tired of the bob and lob.) Stella McCartney sent models sporting the cool version of crimped hair, Balmain models looked fresh with slicked-back wet locks, Dries Van Noten brought back the center-part with ‘90s-style disheveled waves, Erdem busted out the braids, while Anna Sui, Jenny Packham and Diane Von Furstenberg made us yearn for bombshell blowouts. The thing is, there’s no such thing as low-maintenance hair — long or short — if you want to do it right (or unless you are gifted with good hair genes, in which case we hate you). Taking care of hair is a 24/7 job. It starts from washing but doesn’t end with styling. It entails choosing pillowcases that won’t cause too much friction, wearing only hair-ties and clips that won’t cause breakage, and reading the fine print on labels to make sure you won’t cause further damage. No wonder chopping it all off can be so liberating.

Recently, Tresemmé launched a trio of products that promises to do the unimaginable: bind split ends upon contact. It’s a dream product, that’s for sure. The line, called Tresemmé Split Repair, has a sealing mechanism that binds up to 88 percent of split ends while preventing damage with continued use. It includes Tresemmé Split Repair Shampoo, Tresemmé Split Repair Conditioner, and Tresemmé Split Repair Serum, which is the one that binds split ends together and gives hair a healthy look.

The brand’s new endorser, Georgina Wilson, happens to have to be runway-ready all the time thanks to a cool new gig hosting Asia’s Next Top Model. “The long hair trends makes a comeback every so often and I understand why — it’s just so versatile. It allows a multitude of looks whether worn up or down. But like most women, I sometimes get wary about growing my hair long, especially with all these split ends and damage concerns. I can say though that with Tresemmé’s Split End Repair line, I found that cutting your hair is not the best fix. Give it a try,” she says.

The model and TV personality hosted the event alongside Raymond Gutierrez, and presented various long-hair looks on Martine Cajucom, Bubbles Paraiso, Phoemela Baranda, Gwen Zamora, Alyanna Martinez, Natalia Ortega and Jessica Connelly.
