Valerie Weigmann’s no-filter beauty shines in Miss World

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Model and TV host Valerie Weigmann took home the Miss World Philippines 2014 crown in the recently concluded pageant held last Oct. 12 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Weigmann’s natural beauty and wit put her on the top spot, as well as landed her special awards for Best in Swimsuit and Best in Long Gown.

She was also named this year’s Miss Hana, courtesy of Hana Shampoo, a hair care brand that promotes healthy beauty or beauty achieved the natural way.

Hana Shampoo fully supports the pageant and its advocacy, “Beauty with a Purpose.” The brand, which entered the local market in 2013, believes that natural, no-filter beauty is the key to winning Miss World Philippines — which is exactly what the 24-year-old beauty queen has.

Weigmann will represent the Philippines in this year’s Miss World pageant to be held in London this December, hoping to follow the footsteps of last year’s titleholder Megan Young, the first-ever Filipino to take home the Miss World crown.

Also in this year’s top five are 1st Princess Lorraine Kendrickson, 2nd Princess Nelda Ibe, 3rd Princess Nicole Donessa, and 4th Princess Rachel Peters.

The 26 Miss World candidates were first introduced to the press last September 17 at Solaire Resort and Casino. Since then, they have been fully occupied with pageant preparations and activities, including a Miss World dinner with Hana representatives held at NIU by Vikings in SM Aura last Oct. 8.
