Fashion meets furniture for education
The collaboration between talented Cebuana designer Mia Arcenas and beautiful sisters Stephanie Gonzalez and Jessica Kienle of the renowned furniture manufacturer Philux was born out of the desire to give back and help perpetuate the mission of MovEd, a non-profit organization that brings quality holistic early childhood care and development programs to underserved communities.
The weekend trunk show at the Power Plant Mall featured Mia Arcenas’ one-of-a-kind vibrant colored kaftans, elegant resort wear and studded accessories alongside the latest “California 2014” collection of Philux, a company best known for its hardwood furniture that will last for generations. This successful alliance of three lovely women raised more than the targeted goal that will redound to Rep. Leni Robredo’s Camarines Sur district as the chosen beneficiary.
Philux stores are at the Rockwell Power Plant Mall, LRI Design Plaza, SM Megamall and SM North EDSA. For information, visit www.philux.ph or www.miaarcenas.com.

Male power was the theme of the “Horse Power” exhibition featuring eight members of the Saturday Group: Buds Convocar, Buddy Ching, Hermes Alegre, Omi Reyes, Romel Obemio, Aner Sebastian, Francis Nacion and James Gubaton. They were united upon the prodding of their good friend Atty. Ferdinand “Joy” Rojas, an art patron and horse owner-turned-painter, but he is also known as the acting chairman and GM of PCSO. What caught our eye were his special series of horseshoe-accented artwork that sold out immediately.
Three other artists joined the creative lineup at the LRI Design Plaza in Makati: P. Michael Daza who is an adept woodworker of authentic British Victorian rocking horses that come in various sizes; watercolorist Monchot Ongsiako with his detailed seascape artwork; and the only muse, Evie Roque, with her colorful digital portraits.
