Why is Georgina Wilson’s skin so soft?

MANILA, Philippines - We sniff a whiff of romance as soon as we walk into the executive lounge on the 14th floor of Solaire Resort & Casino to have afternoon tea with Georgina Wilson. Clusters of dainty fresh white roses, carnations, and baby’s breath blooms gracefully sit on glass vases filled with aqua blue water as if to blend with the sparkling waters of Manila Bay outside. Is this an engagement/proposal party? Is Georgina finally getting engaged to boyfriend Borgy Manotoc (yes, they’re back together)?  The absolutely glowing Filipino-British “It” Girl walks in wearing a sexy aqua blue dress and a warm smile, and lights up the room with her refreshing beauty. Over tea and an array of afternoon delights, Georgina shares with us her newfound love: Skin So Soft Fast Hydration Body Gel Lotion and Skin So Soft Fast Hydration Body Wash by Avon.

Georgina traces her love affair with Avon: “When we did an internal launch of Skin So Soft Glutathione Whitening Lotion last year, I said that Avon has such a special place in my family history because my granny, who is British, was an Avon Lady, too. Just being with Avon has always been something that’s so important for me because the company is more than just about the products. It’s about giving women a chance to earn their own livelihood and make a name for themselves. Being a woman, you have to balance so many things and Avon makes this easier for women across the Philippines.”

Baring baby-soft, oh-so-smooth skin, Georgina is the perfect walking advertisement for Avon’s two new additions to its iconic Skin So Soft line: Skin So Soft Fast Hydration Body Gel Lotion and Skin So Soft Fast Hydration Body Wash.

“It was the most challenging shoot, just being up there on a harness,” Georgina talks about the recent SSS (Skin So Soft) shoot she did for Avon.  “But when I saw the final product, I forgot how difficult it was, it looked so relaxing.”

The ad shows Georgina telling everyone, “I need a product that brings back the moisture in my skin. I need something light and that’s absorbed quickly, and I need it all to happen super fast. And I think I found just what I’m looking for and I think you’re gonna love it ...”

We do, we do love it! For our skin, it was love at first touch. We pat a little on our sun-shriveled hands and it disappears and refreshes instantly. We totally love the fact that it’s lightweight, non-sticky, and does not leave any residue.

“Women need a well-hydrated skin especially because it’s so hot in the Philippines,” explains Jenny Del Agua, Avon Southeast Asia cluster category manager for personal care. “These new SSS hydrating products are infused with the breakthrough deep aqua technology and watermint oil, creating a powerful skincare combination that prepares and protects the skin in time for the sunny season.”

  The deep aqua complex makes use of deep-sea minerals and lightweight hydrators to provide skin with an extended release of water throughout the day (it’s so smart it goes to where the skin needs the most hydration). Combined with watermint oil, Skin So Soft Fast Hydration products leave skin with a refreshing and revitalized sensation. 

“This is something we’re incredibly proud of in terms of its innovation,” asserts Julie Tatarczuk, Avon Philippines president and general manager. “It’s something that if women wear it, they would feel the difference in the summer. A huge amount of work has gone into this.”

With a smile as bright as sunshine, Julie adds, “And we’re going to have tea because I’m British, tea is part of who we are. And I’m kind of joining the Philippine and British pieces together.”

“Is that where I come in?” asks Georgina, whose father is British and whose mom is Filipina.

A happy user/endorser of the new SSS hydrating line, Georgina gushes, “We have three times more moisture in these products. And I personally feel that when you’re in this type of heat, you would need this. There are creams made for Europe and there are creams made for Asia, especially the hot and tropical countries like the Philippines. These products have been specifically modified for the Philippines. I’m super excited about this launch. I personally love anything that feels light and minty, and these products have both of these things. When you need a lighter lotion, you can simply lather it on when your skin gets kind of hot.”

Georgina has been the face (and body) of SSS for two years now. “I’ve had other offers, but Avon is the brand that I want, I really waited to represent Avon.”

Just last year, Georgina became the first celebrity endorser of Avon Philippines for its Skin So Soft Glutathione Whitening Lotion. “On Day 1 of selling the SSS hand and body whitening lotion with glutathione, we sold 700,000 bottles nationwide,” says a beaming Jenny Del Agua. “Imagine cartloads of bottles — that’s how big the brand is. It set the record for the hand and body lotion on the market.”

“I was excited about the product, but I did not expect it to fly off the shelves — the 350ml and jumbo, that’s going crazy now,” says Georgina who’s always been fascinated with numbers. More than just a lovely face, Georgina’s a passionate lover of math, having taken a double major in Accounting and Finance at the University of Sydney. 

Georgina has known SSS even before she joined Avon.  “I used to use it as a mosquito repellent,” she relates.

“SSS does have the bug repellent as the original formula,” recounts Julie Tatarczuk. “In the US, it’s on a higher level and it’s called Bug-Off.”

Our lovely British ladies Georgina and Julie  agree that people around the world have an intangible connection to the Avon brand. “Whenever I have a new Avon cover, it’s the most tweeted thing,” says Georgina.

It’s amazing to know that one as beautiful as Georgina has a very simple beauty regimen. “I like to keep it as quick as possible and spend as little time as possible. The most that I do is moisturize my face after showering. It has to be something that’s easy, always accessible, and hassle-free.”

Georgina stresses, “It’s all well and good to have a product that’s amazing, but if it costs P3,000, how many people can afford it? Avon products are so affordable but also so accessible, they bring it to your house.”

As for her physical regimen, Georgina does kickboxing with a personal trainer.

She confesses, “I’ve done all these diets — like 10 days of nothing but juice. It was the worst idea, I don’t know how I did it and I was studying, too. I’ll never do it again.”

Georgina laments that the country has taken juicy to an unhealthy level. “Instead of eating, you’re just taking juice. I love having juice, whether between meals or in the morning, it’s the best way to get all the nutrients and you feel really energized. But your body is made to eat this amount of food.”

She adds, “I’m not gonna lie, there are ice cream days. Steak and rice are my absolute favorites. But I’m always looking for greens so it’s not really a struggle. I’ll eat stuff that makes my body feel good.”

To cap an afternoon of tea and beauty, Julie announces in jest, “If you use Skin So Soft Fast Hydration Body Gel Lotion and Skin So Soft Fast Hydration Body Wash, in just two weeks, you will look just like Georgina.”
