Finally, SPF with a powder finish!
HI, RISSA!
I often read your column. I have a question: Most of the sunblock creams that I see around are really thick. Can you share any other brand of sunblock (for daily use on the face) that you may know of where the texture is light? I am fair skinned and get burned easily.
SAAB
I think it’s great you are a user of sunblock — especially on the face. But don’t forget to put sunblock on your neck, too! Whether indoors or outdoors, sun protection is essential. Fact is, 30-40% of UV radiation can still penetrate the clouds. Even when you are indoors, the harmful UV rays can still penetrate glass windows and reflect from the pavement. It’s essential you equip yourself with a sunblock that provides both UVA and UVB protection. UVB rays are responsible for burning, skin darkening — and worse, skin cancer — while UVA rays cause the skin to age with fine lines, wrinkles, age spots.
Fair skin does tend to burn easily. That’s why it’s a good habit to wear sunblock every day. I highly recommend that you try the new Pond’s White Beauty SPF 15 PA++ Cream. This is perfect for everyday use! Unlike other SPF products that women hate because of their greasy and sticky feel, this has a powder finish so it is matte and feels smooth on the skin. The best part is Pond’s White Beauty will help give a rosy white glow to your fair skin.
When I tried it, I loved how it felt so weightless! It gave an ultra-light clean feel without any heavy stickiness or greasy feeling. It goes on so smoothly and leaves a natural matte-finish. My skin absorbed it the moment I put it on. I love that it is a broad-spectrum sunscreen and protects from both harmful UVA and UVB rays. That means it provides you with stable and long-lasting protection against UV rays and environmental aggressors for healthy, beautifully radiant skin.

Lucy’s red lipstick picks
DEAR LUCY,
I am in search of dramatic red lipstick and I would like to know what your picks are. I also am on the lookout for green eyeshadow that I can use as liner (don’t worry, I am not wearing both red lipstick and green shadow at the same time!).
During the Bench fishing boat launch at Fairview Terraces, I really liked the dark jeans and gold shoes you were wearing. May I know where you got them please?
CHARINA
Russian Red by MAC will always be one of my favorites. Others include Ruby Woo and Chili (still by MAC), Bobbi Brown Red Carpet, Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet 317 La Precieuse.
For some green in the eyes, try Stila Magnificent Metals in Metallic Emerald or Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Peacock. Both are nice and I especially like the one from Clinique because it is easy to use and the other end of the stick has the smudger.
The denims I wore during 6200: The Mission Possible launch at Ayala Fairview Terraces is from American Eagle, skinny, in a dark wash. The gold shoes are by Casadei. Luckily, Casadei is now available in Manila. The shop is located at Bonifacio High Street Central and they have sexy heels in gorgeous designs and colors that are truly comfortable.

Trick to break in new shoes
HI, REGINA!
I just bought a new pair of heels for an event and I need to break them in. Do you have any tips or tricks for doing that?
AIKA
Shoes will gradually stretch to fit your feet over time, if you wear them often enough.
No time to wear them around until they stretch, though? No problem! Here’s a trick you can use: Put on a really thick pair of socks (or two or three), squeeze your feet into your shoes, then use a blow-dryer to heat them up for a few minutes in the tight spots that pinch your feet. I’m guessing it’ll be your toes. (Of course, this will be a little uncomfortable, but I’d go with a touch of discomfort now over hours of discomfort later on if you don’t break them in ahead of time. Right?)
Keep the shoes on while they cool, then get up and walk around in them. It’ll help stretch your shoes to your foot shape, and they’ll fit more comfortably. You can repeat the process if the shoes still don’t fit as comfortably as you want when you take the socks off.
