With a smile
We used to be wary of going to the dentist because of the scary-looking instruments rammed down our mouths when we were younger. Not to mention that most of the dentists do not have good bedside manners to alleviate that fear.
I first met Cecile Infantado, a bubly, charming lady dentist, 10 years ago. Cecile grew up in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, where her widowed mother owned a school and an office supply store where she would work as a cashier during summer.
At 14, Cecile already knew she wanted to be a dentist. And she’s been living that dream for 26 years now. Cecile only wants the best for her patients so she keeps herself updated on the latest dental trends and technology here and abroad. As one of her patients, I can attest that she is truly in her element while she treats each one of us with her nimble and light touch.
Her clinics at Dusit Hotel and Sofitel Philippine Plaze are often filled with floral bouquets and gifts from delighted patients because she has given them their smiles back. When I asked her about the work she specializes in, Cecile explained, “With the evolvement of new dental techniques and the latest technology, there has been a huge step forward in dental procedures that makes one feel reborn after suffering years and even a lifetime of self consciousness for ugly teeth that includes worn out dentition (enamel of the teeth), large gaps between the teeth, uneven-shaped teeth, chipped and discolored teeth. The usual methods used are cosmetic bonding and porcelain veneers. Oftentimes, it only takes a couple of hours to have a beautiful smile with cosmetic bonding. It is the artistic procedure that uses composite resin and it is sculpted on top of the natural teeth to either mask the dark color or reshape fractured and worn out teeth or make the teeth bigger or smaller. Gaps between teeth are easily fixed with this mode and the dentist acts like a sculptor to make the perfect set. On the other hand, porcelain veneers are individually crafted and cemented on the tooth surfaces. It is made to the desired shape and size and the material is very durable. “
When I attended the opening of her second clinic at Sofitel Philippine Plaza recently, Cecile’s satisfied patients and friends attended the blessing and lunch to wish her more luck and more satisfied smiles.
