Efren Ocampo channels ’50s glamour

MANILA, Philippines -With lace and feathers making strong statements in 2013 fashion runways, fresh approaches to these vintage looks highlight today’s evening fashion.

Lace used both as accent and main attraction was spotted all over the spring 2013 runways. The feminine fabric continues to be big with Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Dolce and Gabbana, and Anna Sui leading the way.

Birds of a feather have been definitely flocking together at the fall 2013 shows. On many international runways think Jason Wu, Christopher Kane and Ralph Lauren — the feathers were flying, either as the main event or highly innovative trim.

In his latest collection for SM Ladies Fashion, designer Efren Ocampo transforms luxe lace and flirty feathers into sophisticated evening clothes for a new generation of stylish women. Channeling ’50s glamour personified by fashion icon Grace Kelly, the collection is a timeless mix of sophisticated full bias skirts, shift dresses, and strapless gowns drenched in mostly black or white or a sophisticated combination of the two.

Efren Ocampo also shares that “the body-conscious silhouette, punctuated with the use of tulle, chiffon, crepe, lace and jersey, is a celebration of the feminine form.” Alluding to the enduring style of Grace Kelly, Ocampo has thrown in appliqué lace, beading and ostrich feathers to the design, adding a hint of playfulness.
