Lipstick for luck, lacquer for love
If Chanel is what will bring me good fortune, then I am very superstitious. Its latest makeup collection, Superstition, is inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment on the Rue Cambon in Paris, which was decorated with talismans of all origins — bronze and alabaster lions, bundles of ears of wheat, and a number 5 tucked away in a crystal chandelier. Coco believed in luck and her private world was filled with curios that attracted it. These pieces slip into the label’s autumn 2013 collection in the form of jewelry pieces, embroidery and buttons. For makeup, superstition is interpreted in playful, almost surrealist hues like intense magentas, golden beiges and mysterious burgundy.
And why wouldn’t makeup bring you luck? Blush is youth in a compact case. Lipstick is beauty in a creamy stick. Nail lacquer is seduction in a jar. Every piece in Chanel’s Superstition is a prediction of beauty that, in your hands, can come true.
Rouge Coco and Rouge Coco Shine team up with a new complexion must-have: Le Blush Crème de Chanel. It comes in six silky shades with names that can only inspire a happy turn of events: Destiny (intense beige), Présage (apricot), Révélation (coral pink), Inspiration (soft bluish pink), Affinité (intense bluish pink), and Fantastic (burgundy). They perfectly match the lipstick shades and, when applied with fingertips, give you a fresh, youthful flush.
For lipstick, Collection Superstition offers six shades in harmony with its crème blush shades: Icône, Mystique, Secret, Instinct, Rendez-vous and Esprit.
For eyes, a hint — or maybe a lot — of mystery does the trick. Les 4 Ombres Mystère is a quartet of shadows in shimmery, muted colors. Apply in color blocks or blend as you please. Top with an intense line of Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Khaki Précieux for added glitz. Ombre Essentielle, the monochrome light eyeshadow comes in Hasard, a light lavender, and Gri-Gri, a metallic taupe. For a finishing touch, boost the volume of your lashes with a swipe of Le Volume de Chanel, which comes with unexpected flecks of bronze.
Finally, there are the three new shades of lacquers: Le Vernis Elixir, a milky pink with a slightly gray tone; Alchime, a harmony of khaki and gold; and Mysterious, a khaki with hints of charcoal gray.
A swipe of this and a brush of that may be all that you need to change your luck — and if all else fails, you’ll still be beautiful.
