‘Wear My Design’ winners featured in Ensembles’ new collection

MANILA, Philippines - The designs of five lucky ladies were chosen to be part of Ensembles’ spring collection, as their reward for besting over a hundred entries in Ensembles’ Wear My Design competition for spring 2013. Regina Natividad won for her paneled “Iolana” dress, Mymy Ludovice for her geometric color-blocked dress called “Boss of Paradise,” Michelle Sarmiento for her belted “Futuristic Spring” design, Pamela Victoria for her peplum dress and April Joy dela Cruz for her back-baring “Andre” dress.

Four out of the five young designers are fashion design students, except for Pamela, who said, “I just thought of a concept that would fit a stylish woman in the corporate world, something that is understated yet elegant, and would add a stylish twist to the normal office outfit.”

For Regina, inspiration was drawn from a more sentimental place. “I got my inspiration from my daughter, who passed away. Her name was Iona, which is why I named my design ‘Iolana,’” she said.

The winning designs were selected for capturing the essence of an Ensembles woman, who Mymy described as “confident, knows the trends and can carry it well. She can stand on her own and stand out at the same time.” Also, they got to play out one of the key aspects of Ensembles, which is versatility.

“The ‘Futuristic Spring’ dress can be worn from day to night. Just put on a blazer for work matched with stunning stilettos then take the blazer off for a night out,” said Michelle said.

Even Ensembles brand ambassador Carmina Villaroel was wowed by the designs. “They are flattering and practical –– perfect for me and my busy schedule,” she said.
