Celio is mad about New York

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Michael Fassbender took his star turn in Steve McQueen’s Oscar-nominated film Shame. The setting was a muted and cold New York, another facet of the city that never sleeps. If one is tempted to take a bite of the Big Apple as seen in this film, expect the unexpected. And Celio is paying homage to New York for its latest collection.

Celio gets inspiration from New York: images of walking down between Nolita, Tribeca and the Meat Packaging district (and getting some morning air along the Hudson River Park on 59th Street to Battery Park) come to mind. The brand pays particular attention to its urban universe with a raw and authentic aspect. Explore the city wearing clothes that are designed for a gentleman to blend into the concrete jungle without shouting loudly for attention, for Celio clothes will definitely amp up one’s sartorial appeal.

The know-how is enhanced with traditional revised garments, with washed colors and finishing. The painstaking attention to details and the preparation given to it is what makes Celio clothes deserve that much-needed second look from onlookers.

The fall/winter 2012 collection grows in urbanism paired with street-smart aesthetics through shortened jackets, chinos and Bermudas softly washed in order to envision them with a past experience. Premium finishings, like buttons and leather details, add a personal touch to build more elegant outfits, a birthright reserved for those who are exacting to the hilt.

Overall, these looks exude a more casual statement — a not-so-put-together ensemble that shouts nonchalance. The collection goes for a new return to sources, a search that ends up promoting a modern but raw style.

Some of the pieces have that essential vintage touch of the season, as though the wearer just came down from the boat in time for Fleet Week. The coats, jackets and cargos with revisited fits bring more allure to the masculine wardrobe, highlighting the male physique.

A very strong work-wear influence associates itself with this “army” mood, where the jeans-wear is indispensable, and where the golden blue makes the law.

As in a denim color chart, the choices are wide. One can find shades going from the more washed and stoned-up to the waxed raw-jeans shades, thanks to several treatments, thus giving every pair of Celio jeans a stamp of individuality.

And the accessories become the must-have of the silhouette. Celio signs this season a collection that will complete the ensemble of men’s dressing — from carryalls to hats. Availalable at Celio stores in Ayala Center Cebu, Greenbelt 3, The Power Plant Mall, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, SM Mall of Asia, and TriNoma.
