Katie Holmes is Bobbi Brown's first celebrity face
MANILA, Philippines - American actress Katie Holmes has partnered with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics as the brand’s first-ever celebrity face.
“Katie Holmes epitomizes the modern ‘Bobbi woman’ —I think of her as the modern-day Ali McGraw, whom I have always admired,” says Bobbi Brown. “Katie is a classic natural beauty, entrepreneur, and mother. When I met her, I thought she was a natural fit for my brand, and felt an instant connection with her because we have so much in common.”
Says Holmes, “Bobbi is exceptional. Bobbi, the person, is very much what her makeup line stands for: no fuss, down to earth and real. Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is a company that we, as women, all turn to because it is makeup that is very accessible and makes you feel pretty. Sometimes it is just a lipstick or a blush that makes you feel like you can do what you need to do. Makeup is powerful and I am thrilled to be a part of this brand.”
The first iteration of the partnership will appear in spring 2013 print ads, light boxes, on-counter and with supporting editorial features. Additionally, Bobbi will be the lead makeup artist at the spring/summer 2013 Holmes & Yang fashion show, the eponymous line founded by Katie Holmes and celebrity stylist Jeanne Yang.
“Next week, I look forward to working together on creating the beauty looks for her spring 2013 fashion show for her and stylist Jeanne Yang’s Holmes & Yang line,” Brown says. “I’ve been a fan of the brand for its simple, clean lines that enhance a woman’s shape. Next, we will be shooting the brand’s spring ad campaign with Katie in New York City.”
“This is a very exciting time for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and we are thrilled to be embarking on this new partnership with Katie, whose influence spans the globe,” says Maureen Case, president of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. “We are confident that this partnership will raise the brand’s profile with strong, smart, powerful women, while also introducing the brand and its compelling ethos to new consumers.”
Makeup artist Bobbi Brown revolutionized the beauty industry in 1991 with the launch of 10 brown-based lipsticks and a simple philosophy that “makeup is a way for a woman to look and feel like herself, only prettier and more confident.” In 1995, the Esteé Lauder Companies acquired Bobbi Brown Cosmetics; however, Bobbi retains an active role in the company as chief creative officer. More than 20 years later, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is the number-one makeup artist brand founded by a woman. It is available in 60 countries and offers a full range of color cosmetics, skincare, fragrance and accessories.
“Makeup makes me feel glamorous,” adds Holmes. “My mom always told my sisters and me to never be afraid of makeup because it enhances what is there and can help hide your flaws, which we all have.”
