What you can do to save the bees

- The Philippine Star

• S.H.A.R.E. Simply Have Areas Reserved for the Environment. Plant native plants in some portion of your space. Home gardens with native wild flowers can and do attract pollinators, and in many cases suburbs and cities have been shown to have more diverse pollinator communities than nearby wildlands.

• Reduce your impacts by buying locally produced organic food and supporting farmers that are doing the right thing for pollinators. Walk, cycle, use public transit, carpool and telecommute to decrease pollution that is harmful to the bees as well as the rest of the environment.

• Support your local beekeepers. They are a dying breed and we need to make beekeeping a viable vocation. Eating local bee products can also be good for your health. You’ll be sure to find a local beekeeper at your area farmer’s market.
