MANILA, Philippines - From fur-trapping nomads to biker-clad urbanites, Jerome Salaya Ang searches for the decadent in the collective wanderings of itinerant gypsies — tough masculine figures familiar with the trappings of travel.
In draping them with bits of fur — or in some cases, cloaking them — Salaya Ang is after bigger game. Mixing hints of The Orient with elements of Mad Max, the designer is melding cultures disparate yet not alien.
