Chanel puts the glow of dawn, the softness of sunset on your face
MANILA, Philippines - The first light of dawn streaked with pink clouds. A red-toned sky above the rooftops at sunset. These are what Peter Philips, creative director of Chanel Makeup, has translated into colors. The freshness of dawn and the softness of sunset are captured in Spring Harmony, Chanel’s spring 2012 makeup collection. Shades of pink, coral and peach adorn the lips, cheeks and fingertips: on the lips is the sparkle of gloss, the charm of a lip shine or the satin of a lipstick. Cheeks are sun-kissed, while the eyes are cloaked in luminous nude tones or amber flecked with gold. In elegant contrast to the pastels and bright tones, the glow of garnet punctuates the entire makeup collection, coating the nails, swept over lips or washed on the eyelids, highlighted with eyeliner.
The star product is Blush Horizon de Chanel, Philips’ multiple palette that reflects the shades of the season. Thanks to new multi-compaction technology, Blush Horizon de Chanel offers an unprecedented combination of five tones in the same case, like stripes in the colors of a spring sky. Mimicking the skyline at dusk, a fine stroke of garnet highlighted in bright white runs across the palette. On either side, graded tones of pink and peach underscore the contrast. Included with the compact is a beveled brush that delivers a choice of effects: a touch of pink for a healthy glow or a swirl of peach for sun-kissed radiance.
For lips, Rouge Coco Baume is new lip care from Chanel. Like all the lipsticks in the Rouge Coco range, its formula incorporates the Hydratender complex for instant and lasting hydration. Its soft, silky-smooth texture is enriched with a complex based on oil and cane sugar known for its restorative properties. Rouge Coco Baume’s shine instantly lights up lips to give a natural finish.
The lip balm can be worn under Chanel’s three new Rouge Coco lipsticks. Created as a tribute to Gabrielle Chanel’s modern approach, each satiny shade tells of an aspect of her world: Chalys, an orange coral with shimmering reflections, evokes the light fabrics that match Chanel’s style; Paradis, a fresh, sun-kissed coral pink, is inspired by Chanel’s elegant women; Destinée is a plum as intense as the talent and unique style that fashioned Coco’s extraordinary life.
To light up any smile, Rouge Coco Shine lip shines offer tangy, semi-sheer shades with a subtle wet-look effect. Flirt is a tender and vibrant coral; Candeur a romantic pastel pink.
To enhance the outline of the lips, Le Crayon Levres lip liner in Bois de Rose or Rose Corail can be applied for a tone-on-tone effect with your favorite color.
For an even more sensual, high-shine texture, Levres Scintillantes lip glosses in Bagatelle and Petillant (sheer pink and peach) are illuminated with flashes of gold or silver to capture all the effects of light.
The complexion is also subtly illuminated with Poudre Universelle Compact in Jasmin, a luminous beige powder pigmented with gold.
Eyes are illuminated and enhanced by using Chanel’s new Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow compact Eclosion, which contains the four bright shades du jour. Warm, luminous and easy to wear, the satiny hues offer a bare-skin effect in peach, gold or gray beige. A more intense plum shade adds character to the eyes and brings a contrast that highlights the lips.
In Spring Harmony, the interplay of pink and peach also takes place on the eyelids with Ombre Essentielle individual eyeshadows: delicate Rose de Mai smoothes a virtually imperceptible veil over the eyes while Tigerlily, inspired by the wild lily’s amber petals, is an orange-toned shade shot with flashes of gold.
Eyeliner Stylo Yeux Waterproof creates an intense, precise line in the unique, velvety Grenat (garnet) shade.
For nails, Philips created a trilogy of polishes to add to Chanel’s always-awaited Le Vernis range. Named after the months of spring, April is the highly luminous garnet of wild berries; May, an intense pink; and June, a pastel apricot. Like the foretaste of summer, the trio is the perfect accompaniment to all the pink and peach harmonies on the face.
