Lopez companies pay tribute to Pitoy Moreno
MANILA, Philippines - National Artist for Design in 2009, designer Jose “Pitoy” Moreno has continuously inspired fashion designers to stay true to their identity as they conquer the world. Pitoy’s creations have wowed fashion watchers from all over the globe, with over 43 shows staged in every major fashion city, including Paris, New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. Constantly handpicked not just by style icons, but also by royal descendants, leaders, and dignitaries, Pitoy has consistently put local fabrics such as jusi, piña, and silk in the center of global fashion arena.
The Fashion Czar of Asia has made the most elegant women here and abroad wear Maria Clara, the most iconic fashion garb in the country. Pitoy Moreno dressed the most beautiful brides including Ina Ayala, Maricris Zobel, Josie Padilla, Conchitina Bernardo, and Maritess Lopez to name a few. His clientele also included beauty queens to foreign dignitaries such as Charlene Gonzales, Stella Marquez Araneta, Loli Imperial, Former First Lady Imelda Marcos, Isabel Preysler, and more. Most of them have become Pitoy’s close friends and most loyal clients so that even their daughters and granddaughters have become part of his steady roster of clientele. From beauty queens to blushing brides, Pitoy truly knows a Filipina, inside and out. As charming as his ladies, his intricately beaded and hand-painted gowns have fascinated audiences all over the world.
The creations of the fashion czar will be showcased as Metro Society presents “Jose ‘Pitoy’ Moreno: A Tribute Gala,” in partnership with ABS-CBN, The Lifestyle Network and in cooperation with the Binibining Pilipinas charities. The tribute is in celebration of the artistry and creativity of the acclaimed Filipino designer. The show, to be held on the Nov. 22 at the Isla Ballroom of EDSA Shangri-La Manila, will feature over 100 pieces that encapsulate his exquisite collection of Philippine costumes, extraordinary couture gowns, and beautifully crafted ternos.
Tickets are available at P5,000 each. Proceeds will be for the beneficiaries of the Lopez Group Foundation’s (LGFI) assisted community programs and projects. LGFI coordinates the Lopez Group’s corporate social responsibility initiatives focused on education, health and wellness, humanitarian assistance, livelihood, environment, and the promotion of Philippine arts and culture.
