Ladies talk art with Ed Castrillo

-

MANILA, Philippines - Friends of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (FCCP) had a huge encounter with art when sculptor Ed Castrillo hosted a tour of his art studio in Molino, Cavite recently.

The women were awed by the panoramic 100-meter long and seven-meter high work of Castrillo  that tells of the heritage of the Filipinos, from the Stone Age to the present administration of President Noynoy Aquino. The group also saw the still unfinished six-meter figure of Dr. Jose Rizal which, when fully done, will be shipped to Heidelberg, Germany where Rizal spent some time. The FCCP also admired the pieces of jewelry handcrafted by Castrillo himself, and some art works usimng acrylic, metal and wood.

The focus shifted from Filipino art to cuisine when the Castrillo family served a merienda spread of Filipino food like sapin-sapin, bibingka, puto, kutchinta, hot pan de sal with itlog na maalat and butter served with freshly brewed native coffee. After the visit to Molino, the group drove to Tagaytay for  a luncheon meeting  at the Estancia Resort owned by FCCP member Nene Pe Lim, where the ladies discussed their upcoming cultural events.
