Ivanka Trump builds a handbag line
MANILA, Philippines - What do Ivanka Trump and Paris Hilton have in common?
Both are scions of tycoons. Both have launched their own fashion lines.
Ivanka’s latest is a handbag line. She joined forces with Mondani Handbags and Accessories, Inc. to design and introduce a collection of handbags debuting with retailers such as Nordstrom, Macy’s, Dillard’s, Piperlime.com, El Corte Ingles in Spain, Bentalls in the UK, The Bay in Canada, and our very own Rustan’s Department Store (Manila).
Tying a lifestyle brand with an already established jewelry collection and a footwear line, the handbag collection promises a modern spin on classic styling that showcases a youthful, revitalized elegance.
“Ivanka is not only the inspiration for the collection, she has been hands-on with every aspect of its development” says Steven Hedaya, president of Mondani Handbags and Accessories, Inc.
“Like in real estate, you look to comparable properties and see what’s out there and how you can surpass it,” says Ivanka of the new handbag enterprise. In a handbag market of simple and ordinary or flashy and over embellished, the Ivanka Trump handbag collection incorporates clean, crisp lines coupled with exotic textures offering a luxe look for the intelligent, self-assured social woman. Lady-like and functional satchels, chic totes, elegant briefcases, and feminine evening pieces are in this accessible fashion line.
Ivanka Trump is one of the most influential young businesswomen today.
As executive vice president of Development & Acquisitions, she is in charge of the domestic and global expansion of The Trump Organization’s real estate interests. Along with her father, Donald J. Trump and her siblings, Donald Jr. and Eric, Ivanka, who joined the organization in 2005, directs all aspects of the company’s real estate and hotel management platforms.
Ivanka is a principal of Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry launched to great success in 2007 with a store on Madison Avenue in New York City.
Ivanka is also one of the stars (along with her father Donald J. Trump and her brother Donald, Jr.) of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice. In October 2009, Touchstone Hardcover, a division of Simon & Schuster, published Ivanka Trump’s first book, a New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-seller, The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life.
Ivanka is actively involved in the U.N. Foundation’s Girl Up initiative, a campaign to recruit young women to support U.N. programs for girls in developing countries. Partnering with social activists such as Elizabeth Gore and Queen Rania of Jordan, the program hopes to bring awareness and career skills to young women around the world. She also supports other charitable organizations, including the Eric Trump Foundation and the New York City Police Foundation.
Ivanka graduated summa cum laude from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and received a bachelor’s degree in science in economics.
Ivanka Trump’s handbag line is available in Rustan’s Makati and soon in Rustan’s Shangri-la Plaza Mall.
