Tattoo you
MANILA, Philippines - Now you can go swimming wearing your tattoo. Well, tattoo on your swimwear, that is.
Freeway once again collaborated with designer Twinkle Ferraren for its hand-painted “Tattoo Swimwear” summer 2011 collection. The most-loved and everlasting form of art and expression is reinvented into something more wearable.
Twinkle Ferraren is a Filipino swimsuit designer who started her career with designing fashion accessories back in 1999 then took up courses at London before venturing into swimwear/beachline wear.
“Summer is about exploration and new adventures; visiting new places, trying and learning new things, enjoying nature — which is becoming rare — and breathing fresh, fresh air,” Ferraren explains. “Creating swimwear for me is a leisurely side of fashion, representing the fun, carefree and easygoing lifestyle.”
With Freeway’s tattoo-inspired collection, tattoo-lovers can take their passion for the ink to the waves or just casually lounge poolside while looking stylish. The collection, inspired by tribal and tropical tattoos, features pieces and cover-ups that are colorful, sporty and functional. Swimsuits are mixed with mesh materials and tattoos printed on the suit, perfect for those who love to try new sports and activities in the beach. Twinkle describes the collection as “a modern, female version of the Pintados and tribes.”
Ferraren loves to experiment with different styles and cuts since she knows customers’ preferences are constantly changing. “I’ve seen customers becoming more daring and experimental with their choices, most of the time they stick to the cut that suit them best, which is the most important factor of course — but that still has a different element in the suit each time.”
Knowing what’s the right cut for your body shape is the key factor in finding the perfect swimwear.
Here are some pieces of advice from Ferraren:
For those with full chests and are top heavy, styles like halter, bandeau and tankini are good.
Those who have less on top and are flat-chested can actually carry the bikinis and the one-piece suits with a deep neckline.
Those with fuller figures can create illusions with the one-piece suits especially the curved one.
From Freeway’s current collection, the racerback and scarf-tankini are versatile sets that can also be worn as active-wear (for exercising/working out).
Girls can put a bit of naughtiness and romanticism to their summer escapade with Freeway’s wide assortment of summer dresses, shorts and tanks.
