Holiday weddings
Weddings are one of the happiest events in one’s life but when they recently came in three’s, it was a triple treat for the holidays. There was the wedding of longtime sweethearts (is this the term they call couples nowadays?) Rapha Banson and Ateneo’s crush ng bayan of my son’s era, Anielle Santos.
They were together for eight years before they decided they were meant for each other. They had a lovely reception at the Blue Leaf in Fort Bonifacio with a big group of relatives and their fun-loving friends who danced the night away.
Another love story is that of US-based Kevin Carlos de Leon and Celeste Deang. They met on a blind date in Chicago through mutual friends and two years later came back to Manila to tie the knot in an intimate reception at the Manila Polo Club. Kevin’s childhood best friend, Michael Chan, the talented son of Joe Mari Chan, was the best man and guests were treated to a great musical set by the Chan family.
One of the longest, sweetest, lasting unions I have seen is the 65-year-old marriage of our family friends Maxine Carmelo and Anton Cacho. It was truly a time of thanksgiving and gratitude that they had reached a ripe age still in tip-top condition, having survived crucial events in Philippine history including World War II and the liberation of Manila as well interesting times of our country’s history. They now have seven grandchildren and nine cute great- grandchildren from their two daughters, Maxine Tolentino and Maripaz Tempfli.
A wonderful way to end 2010 and congratulations to these three couples who have shown that love prevails above all. May you live happily every after!
