Revolution rock
MANILA, Philippines - Diesel ignites a Post-Lux craft-rebel experiment that pitches itself against fast fashion.
Reinventing its design process to harnesses the spontaneous creativity which comes from creating by hand, deconstructing, cutting, tearing, spraying, and then playfully reassembling the elements to create unique garments. The members of Diesel’s Creative Team got up from their desks and followed their hearts (and hands) with a DIY approach to design the new “Preview FW10” collection.
Guided by its own “Slow Fashion” philosophy, Diesel fuses craft techniques with its true anarchic spirit of rebellion.
The urban and industrial element of mesh is symbolically broken down, reworked, and remixed into the design process with powerful effect. The rebellious Diesel man faces the new season wearing leather biker jackets with studded shoulders over colorful printed T-shirts and super-treated denim shirts. Mesh appears as graphics on T-shirts and knitwear as well as on the coin pockets and back patch of damaged denim. Jeans feature strong details like pleats at the front and zips at the ankle. New in the range is the Shioner style, with skinny comfortable fit, along with two new “Blue Eyecons” washes, each requiring more than 12 hours of treatment.
Men’s accessories are also “crafted” — from the nylon courier bag with rubber mesh and PVC applications to roomy weekend hold-alls enhanced by shiny leather, studs or padding. On their feet, men wear rubber-studded sneakers in treated denim, rugged boots, distressed deck shoes or high-tops in shiny material.
Mesh, hand-drawn illustration and slogan graphics also dominate the women’s collection, with the added appeal of bold fluorescents. Sexy shorts with suspenders matched with “revised” biker jackets in soft denim and colorful nylon that underline the gentle nature of this craft uprising. For fall, girls go for zipped micro dresses in treated denim or short flirty pieces.
T-shirt graphics include a new female version of Diesel’s iconic Mohican to be worn with two new 5Pockets styles: Hushy, the ankle-length slim fit pants with front patch pockets, and Livy-Biker, the super-slim “biker inspired” denim full of rocking details such as a metal stripe on the coin pocket and extra zips. Mesh pops up again to repair broken denim and add decoration to back pockets.
Women’s accessories are equally craft-punk: bags and wallets feature chains, studs and zips. Footwear gets the studded treatment, with items in treated suede and grain leather, but women can also go for a more casual “color riot” look with fluorescent sneakers, pumps or sandals.
In the Philippines, Diesel is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists Inc. (SSI) and is available at Greenbelt 3, Power Plant Mall, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, and Robinsons Place Manila.
