The Face Shop's quick fix for creating an instant eyelid crease
Dear Rissa,
I’m a chinita girl who is very frustrated with her eyes. I really wish my oriental eyes had a fold or an eyelid crease so that my eyes don’t look so small. I don’t want to go through surgery, so is there anything I can do about this?
Chinita Eyes
While buying my favorite facemasks at The Face Shop, I came across an interesting beauty tool. The Double Eyelid Tape from big Korean beauty brand The Face Shop will help provide a quick fix for all frustrated chinitas like you — without the need for surgery. Although I’m not chinita with oriental eyes, I bought a pack because I got so curious and wanted to try it (only P110 for a pack of 40 pairs, stores located at Bonifacio High Street, TriNoma, Glorietta 2, Eastwood Mall, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM North EDSA). These little strips of clear tape are pre-shaped to the silhouette of the eyelids and will give that much-desired eyelid crease. They’re easier to apply than I thought; no need for any special tools, I just used my fingers. (I’m actually wearing them now as I type this column!) They surprisingly do not feel heavy at all! False lashes feel even heavier and more bothersome than these mighty eyelid tapes. And because they’re clear, they’re hardly noticeable.
Wondering if you can wear make-up over them? Yes, you can, and because they’re made of medical-grade tape, they will not irritate the eyes.
If this delivers big, beautiful eyes to those with oriental peepers, then what does it do for non-chinitas like me? For those who want to instantly take years off their age and create a youthful eyelid, this product is an eye-opening experience. The eyes show age more than any part of the body. Fact is, eyelid skin also loses its elasticity and as we age, we lose the crisp eyelid crease that lends an open, friendly appearance to the eye. With The Face Shop’s Double Eyelid Tape, you can wink hello to eyes that are much more youthful.

A Magic Potion That Doesn’t Break The Bank
Dear Lucy,
I work in production, and my skin needs the closest thing I can get to a magic potion without breaking the bank! Please share with me a good find that is reasonably priced but really works.
Romina
Run to the nearest Kiehl’s counter and ask for their Midnight Recovery Concentrate. For only a little over P2,200, this potion is reasonable. The better news is I know credible people who swear by it! It promises to work fast at restoring skin, a claim backed up by such ingredients as squalene, evening primrose oil, omega 3, 6 and 9, and essential fatty acids. At night, while skin is in repair mode and skin turnover is at its peak, this cocktail replenishes lipids for a fresher and brighter appearance in the morning.

Scar Treatments
Dear Ms. Tingting,
What products do you advocate for scar treatment? Thanks! More power to you!
Norie
Firstly, I use Lightenex Plus by PharmaClinix to even out my skin tone. It worked, shortly after Dr. Imelda Cervantes introduced me to Scar Repairex. I’m still trying it out.
Scar Repairex combines the most ingredients available today for aiding scar tissue repair and reducing its unsightly appearance. Some of these are:
• Cyclopentasiloxane - A transparent, non-greasy, non-irritant liquid silicone that forms an effective “cross link” that is easily absorbed into the skin
• Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 - Stimulates the development of new collagen and elastin, leading to rapid healing
• Palmitoyl oligopeptide – A tripeptide that stimulates the healthy growth of the cell matrix and connective tissue. These polypeptides are essential to stimulate the growth of elastin, which allows the growth of a normal flexible skin layer after an injury.
• Retinyl palmitate (vitamin A) - Essential for normal growth of cells and healthy skin
• Sodium ascorbyl phosphate – A stable vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant that helps neutralize harmful free radicals in cells. It also aids rapid healing.
• Rutin - has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that strengthen capillaries and aid healing.
• Phaseolus Lunatus extract - This protein factor has anti-inflammatory properties. These anti-inflammatory substances are important in reducing the swelling and redness that happens in wounds, therefore discouraging the production of scar-forming collagen.
