A truly Filapino polo cup
MANILA, Philippines - Pinoy pride ruled the polo fields recently as Fila once again hosted the biggest event of the year: the annual Fila summer polo cup.
This time Fila paid tribute to our roots and transformed the Enrique Zobel Polo field into a cultural haven. Wisps of sinamay complemented by our own local exquisite plants and flowers cast a perfect shade on celebrities and polo enthusiasts while Via Mare provided mouthwatering Filipino delicacies.
Hot Legs, the Philippines’ premiere dance group, performed a mind-blowing dance exhibition of tradition and deconstruction. VIP guest Jun Jun Binay executed the ceremonial toss of the ball marking the start of the games of kings. Filipino polo players ruled the fields that day. Fila patriarch Butch Albert played heads up polo with Osang Yulo, Adrian Garcia and Jay de Jesus to win the low goal while Tonio Veloso, Jerome Hernandez, Matthew Hind, and Alfie Araneta took the gold home in the high goal game
Champagne flowed endlessly now a trademark treat of the beauty-and-brains Fila CEO Cris Albert. An air of pride and joy prevailed that night with a glam Pinoy rock band One Walks Away taking the merriment a notch higher with a collective mix of Filipino and foreign cult classics. A spectacular array of fireworks lit up the sky, making that summer day purely magical…purely Filapino.
