All about preppy edginess
MANILA, Philippines - The strong and the feminine bond together in the RAF summer collection as RAF Plains & Prints takes advantage of sexy silhouettes to create an ensemble that’s bold and beautiful.
RAF merchandise manager Carla Arguelles says, “RAF’s summer collection is all about femininity and strength, focusing on strong details that emphasize the classic hourglass figure by highlighting the shoulder and hips. This strong silhouette is softened with the use of dynamic summer colors like aqua, fuchsia pink, orange and green. The collection is highlighted with details of precise pleats, soft draping, classic ruffles and contrasting color blocks and combinations.”
The summer collection range of tops, bottoms and dresses are made from a combination of stretch poplin, voile and satinized twill. The feminine aspect of the collection was enhanced with the use of jersey, lace and cotton spandex.
The summer collection also carries the RAF men’s line, which makes a 180-degree turn from its capsule collection in December. This summer, the look is more relaxed yet still has a polished silhouette. Details include mini-collars, adjustable rolled sleeves, pockets and epaulettes, colors blocks and stripes. Fabrics include cotton, voile, and sheer knits.
Laidback tailoring and “preppy edginess” is still the statement of the season, with shirts and thin knit sweaters that will keep any guy cool in both comfort and style. The men’s collection also imbibes the summer’s colors of aqua blue, white, grays and blacks.
Although RAF does not necessarily follow trends, the summer collection features details like draping and romantic ruffles, which are very evident in the international spring-summer 2010 runway shows. The ensemble also maintained the high-waist trend with bottoms like the voluminous high-waist trousers and high-waist A-line skirts.
RAF items are available at Eastwood Mall, SM Megamall, TriNoma, Marquee Mall, and the newly opened SM Mall of Asia, as well as in the following Plains & Prints boutiques at Shangri-La Plaza Mall, Alabang Town Center, and Robinsons Manila.
