Kate Moss' Oriental glam is a winner

-

MANILA, Philippines - When it comes to cool, Kate Moss is simply on a different plane than everyone else. She can whip up a global whirl with a single walk down her North London block. After creating a fashion frenzy with the launch of her first collaboration with Topshop, Moss now presents Oriental-inspired pieces, which are sure winners this season.

Oriental spice, influenced mainly by the Chinese and the Japanese, is evident in the Christmas collection. Moss gives the body-hugging, form-fitting cheongsam dress, which is traditionally made in embroidered satin, a new form. The pieces use materials like gunmetal lurex knit. Even the classic and laid-back kimono dress has been stylized for a more functional form, with a modish twist and semi-fitted with a crossover V-neck.

These key Oriental pieces are spruced up with geisha rose patterns on bell-shaped sleeves. Other prints like bamboo, flying stalks, lotus flowers, and fireworks, flamboyantly reflect richness.

Glitzy details are added to knitwear, representing coziness and luxury as well as sparkle for the holiday glam. There are soft gray cashmere V-neck tunics with fitted bodice — dressed up with a silver beaded obi belt or classic knit crew-neck jumpers in slate gray and navy, spruced up with jeweled shoulder pads stitched to the outside of the garment. Also popular this season is a series of lurex-striped shrugs and sequined knit waistcoats.

For the ultimate Christmas party dress, black rectangular jagged sequin bandeau maxi dresses are chic and sexy. The strapless banded top or those with empire waist and pleated skirt that evokes femininity with every flow is very flattering and festive — especially with Moss’ signature rock-and-roll style. Also big this season is the traditional floral beaded one-shouldered long sleeves and strapless mini dress (covered in black mesh petals and gold beads). Snake print leather obi belts wrap-around smart dresses and ostrich feathers adorn the sleeves of shift dresses.

Christmas embraces chic, smart tailoring and exquisite satin pencil skirts in navy or black and black grosgrain boat neck shift dresses for the ultimate in ladylike dressing.

Other pieces in the collection worth checking out in Topshop stores are shrunken Victoriana jackets, jacquard princess coats with jeweled buttons and billowing blouson sleeves.

Topshop branches are located at Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Place Manila, The Podium, Shangri-La Plaza Mall, Power Plant Mall, SM Mall of Asia, Greenbelt 3, Bonifacio High Street, Alabang Town Center, TriNoma, and Ayala Center Cebu.
