White lotion is so right for sunspots

STYLE S.O.S. - Lucy Torres-Gomez, Rissa M. Samson, Tingting Cojuangco -

Dear Ms. Tingting,

How do I remove tiny sunspots on the face and body?

Tonie

I use Glutatone A+ with Glutathione T Alpha Arbutin, vitamin C + SPF 20 from Dr. Filomena L. Montinola.

There’s also Arbutin with Kojic Cream and Kojic Lotion, used one on top of the other, from Dr. Imelda Cervantes.

Have patience and wait. You’ll get those pinhead spots out just by consistently dabbing the whitening cream on them.

For my brown tiny spots, I tried Ponds White Beauty Detox Spotless White Lotion with vitamins B3, B6, E, and C, and UV protection. It’s worked wonders for me. Take my word for it, I was once a Ponds and Vaseline Intensive Care model. By the way, these brands have their own whitening lotion.

There you are, a whole range of whitening creams.

Handy Tips For Overworked Hands

Dear Rissa,

Ever since I started working with a nine-to-five job (and sometimes I also have to work on weekends!), I’ve really had no time for manicures anymore. With all the typing and paperwork, my hands feel so abused. Is there something I can do to make my hands look and feel nice even without a manicure?

Laine

Our hands are some of the most abused parts of our body together with our feet. To keep them pretty and polished, treat them with a moisturizer made for the hands. I really like Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Therapeutic Hand Cream (available at Rustan’s Essenses). Especially made for the hands, this product, enriched with vitamin E, relieves even the most dry and chapped hands. It doesn’t feel sticky — it absorbs quickly and instantly soothes any cracking, roughness, and flaking. With its handy size, it’s also perfect to bring when traveling — especially to those four-season countries. I really love how you immediately get softer and smoother hands. It’s also perfect for conditioning the cuticles. Every time I use it, my hands look like they got pampered from a manicure and hand massage! I like it so much that I use it every night on my feet, too! More reasons to like it — it’s fragrance-free and equipped with SPF 8.

Another wonder product is Bloom Cuticle Quencher (available at Beauty Bar). This vitamin-rich product also contains a blend of healing oils, herbal extracts, and essential oils to soften dry, damaged cuticles and encourage strong, healthy nails. Application is a breeze with its easy-to-use brush pen. This is a staple in my model’s bag. During beauty shoots or jewelry fashion shows where hands are the focus, this is a magic wand that instantly puts my nails in tip-top shape. Another bonus: It acts as a supernatural gloss for your nails!

When you do have time for a manicure, do go to the Nail Spa (with branches at Unit 106 First Midland Bldg. 109 Gamboa Street, Legaspi Village, Makati City, telephone numbers 817-3128 and 830-0702; 5/F EDSA Shangri-La Plaza Mall, EDSA corner Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City, 687-7011/687-4991; and Rustan’s Essenses, Makati). I’ve been going there for years. Devoted to pampering the hands and feet, they do it right and they do it best. Nail Spa is responsible for most of the magazine covers that feature celebrities with perfectly polished nails. You’ll never go anywhere else after you’ve had a manicure and pedicure with them.

P.S. For those of you who are trying to get in touch with the mobile number of Studio Fix by Alex Carbonell, the correct contact number is 0927-5767698. You may also call 501-3062 and 501-3064. On Light Foundation And Traveling Light

Dear Lucy,

I need a foundation with light coverage. Ever since you wrote about Make Up For Ever’s face and body liquid makeup, I have been using it but for performances (I perform nightly on a cruise ship, I sing and dance), I feel I need something more sweat-proof and light-proof. Any recommendations?

Because of my job, traveling light is a challenge. What travel tips can you give me, given the nature of my job?

PJ

I think the secret really is the primer. Some people easily dismiss it as just an extra step and an unnecessary expense, but once you try it, you will discover how long-wearing your foundation will be. I like the primer from Paul & Joe, which I initially bought because the packaging was just too cute, but when it worked well, I went back for their liquid foundation which, to my delight, does cover really well without feeling too heavy on the skin. I also like the cream to powder formulation of Bobbi Brown.

When it comes to traveling in light of your job, I suggest you bring jersey dresses in solid colors that can be worn multiple ways, and to keep you warm, long cardigans and beautifully embroidered shawls. The former you can throw over dresses to make them look more casual and the latter you can use as is, as a top, or even as a skirt. Just make sure you have nice brooches to secure them in place. Also, please try to invest in fabulous accessories because they can make the same outfit look different each time. Take advantage of the local flea markets in all your stops because you are bound to find stylish, one-of-a-kind accessories there.
