MANILA, Philippines - Now in its fifth year and still going strong, the Watsons Health, Wellness, and Beauty (HWB) Awards is the annual salute to Watsons’ partners and suppliers who have shone through as the best and the brightest in terms of sales, promotions, and overall product performance in Watsons stores nationwide.

At the HWB Awards held at the SMX Convention Center at SM Mall of Asia, guests were welcomed by an art gallery that featured the works of modern and renaissance masters, from Van Gogh, Da Vinci, and Botticelli to Andy Warhol and our very own Fernando Amorsolo. Likened to the excellent work of such artists, every element of the HWB Awards revolved around the very same excellence that fuelled the passion and work of these artists — from master-class service to the undeniable product excellence of Watsons’ partner brands.

The HWB Awards 2009 opened with welcoming remarks from Robert U. Sun, chief operating officer for Watsons Personal Care Stores Philippines, Inc.

The evening roundup of winners consisted of the biggest brands in the health, wellness, and beauty business, with a total of 18 major awards and seven grand awards given out.

For the fifth consecutive year, Unilever Philippines took top honors — International Partner of the Year. Unilever Phils. chairman and CEO Fernando Fernandez joined his team on stage as they received their trophy.

Fellow grand awardees included United Laboratories, Inc. who was awarded the Supplier of the Year Grand Award for Health, while Ever Bilena Philippines repeated its stellar performance the year before and was once again awarded the Philippine Supplier of the Year Grand Award for Beauty. Other grand award winners were industry leaders Bayer Schering Pharma, Beauty Elements Ventures, and Wyeth Consumer Healthcare.

Cetaphil wins Best Cleanser for 2009

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser was cited as one of the best beauty buys for 2009 by international fashion publication InStyle magazine. Named the “Best Cleanser for Dry Skin” and “Best Cleanser for Sensitive Skin” in the annual beauty survey, the facial wash was distinguished for its ultra-mild, soap-free formulation.
