Anya Hindmarch goes architectural

Anya Hindmarch, that British designer known for her sense of humor, has bagged her share of glamorous fans like Sienna Miller and Reese Witherspoon.

Two years ago, Anya caused a stampede when she designed eco-fashion bags in limited edition canvas with the statement “I’m Not a Plastic Bag.”

Now, Anya goes architectural for her latest collection. But don’t worry, it’s not all lines and geometric shapes. Her bags, now available at Adora in Greenbelt 5, still have touches of her trademark humor.

 “I wanted to experiment more with linear architectural details and graduating colors. Shapes and textures have been reworked with tri-color pieces and incredibly tactile materials including more exotic skins like shagreen and snakeskin for inlays on clasps and chains. As always though, I have worked to produce pleasurable pieces to keep you feeling good.”

Three Pocket Bag

The Anya Hindmarch autumn winter 2009 collection takes inspiration from the strong colors and bold patterns of Italian designer and architect Ettore Sottsass. Style Moderne influences are also evident in the distinctive graduated color, paneling and inlays used throughout the collection. A decadent Seventies palette of black, charcoal, chocolate, petrol blue, rust, bottle green and bright cherry is amplified in sumptuous fabrications of seasnake, eel, high shine leather, tumbled patent and python and highlighted by metallic accents of gold and pewter. To give depth and texture, leathers are folded, pleated and woven.

Channeling Francoise Hardy, Grace Jones and Lauren Hutton, this look mixes New York sophistication and London cool with a touch of Milanese eleganza.

Day Bags

The Three Pocket Bag summarizes the themes of the collection perfectly. This is a clean, easy-to-wear shoulder bag with a raw edge finish for the confident dresser. Featuring folds of soft leather in rust or black or graduated colors of blue, black, charcoal, green or chocolate, it is both architectural and sleek by design.

This season sees the introduction of new hardware, unique to Anya Hindmarch. An ideal size for necessities, the Minton is a small, perfectly formed shoulder bag in pale gray, dark brown or black high-shine leather. The Callie is similar in style and available in a combination of rust eel or green mock croc with the same gold hardware. Also showcasing the double loop chain inlaid with graduated leather is the Maddock which comes in two sizes in petrol blue, chocolate or black high-shine leather. 

Soft and unstructured, the Belvedere is a large or small top handle tote in strips of leather and suede. Cherry and charcoal will add lift to any look whilst gray with charcoal or black with green make for subtler options. A detachable and adjustable nastro strap completes this style. This new supple combination of leathers is also evident in the Cassie for those wanting a more classic shape.

Matte and shine combine in the Dakota clutch for day in leather and mock croc. Linear details, stitching and elegant hardware provide a nostalgic Art Deco air. The Pipkin oversized clutch returns in eel, high shine leather and python. Elongated gold hardware adds weight to hidden magnetic clasps engraved with the Anya Hindmarch bow logo. The Buddy in tumbled patent is a slimline, pleated pocket, fitting as a clutch or a keepsafe within any day bag.

Totes

Canvas totes come with strong bases and leather handles in veg tan or naplak for extra durability.

The Hero Tote is a new way of carrying the key style of the season and comes with an image of the Three Pocket Bag printed onto the canvas.

Inspired by the AH dustbag as worn by Jake Gyllenhaal and Keira Knightley, the Dustbag Tote is a quirky style with a twist. Perfect for the gym or beach, black and white ticking is given the Anya Hindmarch stamp and topped with naplak handles in bright cherry red or petrol blue.

Sweet Woodland Totes in navy, chocolate, natural and black come with linear illustrations of woodland animals alongside cheeky phrases including Badger with “All Set,” Fox with “Vixen,” Deer with “Oh My Deer,” Hedgehog with “Let’s Roll” and Owl with “Wise Owl.”

Evening

A true investment, the Nadja is an exquisite reversible envelope-style clutch. Available small in satin/metallic leather or metallic python/nappa or in large high-shine leather/suede, shiny python/nappa; choose your preferred combination. The Nadja has the added benefit of a streamline zippered pocket and “envelope” tip edged in gold or silver hardware. 

The Zeus is a small zippered pouch in striped metallic nappa in black, deep blue or cherry red featuring the new Anya Hindmarch plaque. The Marano and the Luce make an elegant return in glossy seasnake in rust or pale turquoise. The Josie is the perfect box clutch for red carpet glamour in gray or red silk and embellished in Swarovski crystal mesh.
