From Courreges to McCartney the jumpsuit is back, yeah!

-

MANILA, Philippines - Jump into an exciting new fashion attitude as jumpsuits make a comeback at SM.

Like blue jeans, the jumpsuit started out as work wear, but has since been elevated to high fashion status. It first hit the runways in the 1960s when Andre Courreges showcased Space Age jumpsuits in Paris. It soon became part of the concert wardrobes of Cher, Abba, and Elvis; while the “it” girls of the ’70s like Diana Ross, Liza Minnelli and Bianca Jagger danced the night away at Studio 54 in Halston’s drapey, free-flowing one-piece styles.

Since that time, designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Geoffrey Beene, Vivienne Westwood, and Yohji Yamamoto have made their own jumpsuit fashion statements.

The jumpsuit today has been making a comeback both on the runway and red carpet. Maggie Gyllenhaal wore a backless Stella McCartney jumpsuit to The Dark Knight preem, while Selma Blair, Brooke Shields, Rihanna, and Gwyneth Paltrow have worn stylish versions of what is also called the onesie.

The jumpsuit collection at SM is modern and utilitarian, exuding an attitude of fluid elusiveness. Its long, lean line and soft silhouette appeal to a new generation of fashion-forward women.

The jumpsuits are available at the Ladies Wear Department of all SM stores.
