MANILA, Philippines - When Madonna’s Like A Prayer debuted on MTV, fans everywhere tossed out the torn lace gloves and embraced the new accessory du jour, the cross.

Now that the ‘90s is experiencing a renaissance — with grunge taking center stage on runways everywhere — everyone’s taking note of the new cross.

At the recent Costume Institute gala, Ashley Olsen wore a voluminous floor-length gown. Her only accessory? A silver chain with a cross pendant dangling down her back .
