Edgar Allan shines with alaskin, chiffon and satin
Edgar Allan Boutique, a long-time collaboration between designer Edgar Allan and New York-educated merchandiser Rene Tiongco, will open a shop at the new Glorietta 5 on Wednesday, Dec. 10, with cocktails and a fashion show at 6 p.m.
The new Edgar Allan Boutique, with interiors done in white, black and silver with a high theater-style ceiling, will offer one-of-a-kind off-the-rack dresses for formal and special occasions. Luxurious fabrics in duchesse satin, alaskin, brocade, chiffon and lace were designed by Edgar to answer the needs of today’s busy woman who wants to wear stylish clothes that are not sold all over the metropolis.
The inaugural fashion show, dubbed “The Cocktail Hour,” will feature Edgar’s 72-piece holiday collection, which will be sold only at the new Glorietta 5 boutique. Jewel colors and flattering silhouettes in strapless, one-sided, low-back and other interesting details, make the off-the-rack clothes perfect for partying this season. This inaugural holiday collection makes Edgar Allan’s concept of one-of-a-kind dressing go full circle when the fashion collaborators opened 25 years ago at the Atrium of Makati offering unduplicated dresses not sold anywhere else. Fashion icons Chona Kasten, Elvira Manahan and Chito Madrigal were some of the store’s clients who appreciated ready-to-wear dresses that were exclusive but didn’t require the tedious fitting sessions of couture clothes.
The fashion show, mounted with the cooperation of Ayala Malls and Lyric Piano, will be held at the atrium activity center of the new Glorietta 5 and is open to the public.
