Brilliant expressions

As the old saying goes, diamonds are a girl’s best friend. So is Bulgari, which is synonymous with timeless beauty, perfect proportions, the highest-quality stones and craftsmanship. The latest among Bulgari’s collections is the Elisia diamond collection, which was conceived for sophisticated women who prefer to wear original, timeless jewelry. The design is taken from the oval motif, which first appeared in Bulgari designs at the end of the 1960s. It was frequently reprised during the 1970s and 1980s, in spectacular combinations of materials and colors. That experience inspired the new Elisia collection, whose name unites the word “ellipse,” representing the essence of the collection, and a woman’s name, emphasizing the pure femininity characteristic of these creations.

The Elisia line was first launched in 2007 with multicolored sapphires in vibrant colors, cut in perfect cabochons. White and yellow gold alternate to exalt the hues of the stones, often set together with brilliant-faceted gems. The inspiration was taken from Rome’s elliptical architectural motifs.

This theme is consistent in the Elisia collection but set apart by the use of exceptionally fine, brilliant diamonds. The elliptical design is entirely pave-set with diamonds and occasionally punctuated by larger stones. They contrast each other perfectly to create a collection both versatile and complete, ranging from necklaces to earrings, bracelets and rings that can be worn in a variety of combinations.

The Elisia line is characterized by an excellent balance of design and form, producing perfectly harmonious pieces. Suspended from the Elisia necklace are jeweled double-ellipse pendants. Along the border are brilliant-cut diamonds of different sizes and circular pave-set diamond roundels combine with oval openwork motifs, tracing patterns of varying form and complexity in support of the large pendants.

The classic and discrete single-strand necklace is composed of a balanced succession of elliptical elements, whose dimensions gradually decrease. Individual oval motifs inserted in a soft, light structure also characterize the matching bracelet and earrings.

In the precious double-strand necklace, a sequence of double elements outlines an elegant design that enhances the décolleté, emphasizing the bold character of the jewel. The clean contours of the ellipse define the ring design, with extremely contemporary results. This can be seen in both the original and versatile band model, realized with a series of juxtaposed diamond pave motifs, set off by small diamonds laid asymmetrically at the intersections of the ovals — and in the more traditional model, featuring a double-ellipse setting that forms the central element of the ring.

The double elliptical motif characterizes the matching earrings, where the pendants are hung from the earlobe with circular pave-set diamond elements or a thin line of degrades of diamonds. The collection is completed by two modern and feminine bracelets. The broad elliptical elements trace a horizontal pattern that gracefully adorns the wrist with the subtly curved contours of each component. In the more lavish version, the elaborate vertical mesh creates a broad band that wraps the arm, enhancing the fashionable and refined design.
