The lip-smacking truth about lip plumpers
May 2, 2007 | 12:00am
Dear Lucy,
How do those lip plumpers work? Are they really safe to use? What is a good brand? I live in Davao.
– Lyra
Some lip plumpers "sting" the lips, thus the minty feel and the fuller look. Others though are actually infused with revolutionary technology to plump lips instantly. LipFusion is one of them. It is perhaps the pioneer in as far as lip plumping is concerned. Randi Shinder, president and co-founder of Fushion Beauty, is thrilled to say that LipFusion is backed by the Good Housekeeping Seal, a well-known symbol of confidence in consumer products.
How does it work? Tiny, dehydrated, marine collagen microspheres are instantly absorbed by the lips and seek out the body’s natural moisture. Once the spheres are rehydrated, they swell and cling to the moisture they have collected, creating a fuller look that lasts up to 48 hours. A tube costs P1,850, but it lasts a pretty long time and it really does make lips more defined and enhance lip contours. The result: naturally fuller, more luscious, and kissable lips!
Quite popular are the LipFusion Lip Plumping Pencils that create a beautiful full-out pout (a la Angelina Jolie’s).
How to use it? Apply as needed to moisturize and plump lips throughout the day. It can be applied over or under lip color.
The good news is, LipFusion is now available at Rustan’s Essenses. That means you don’t have to go to the US or order through the Internet.

Dear Tingting,
I have big, masculine arms. Some people say I’m maskulado. Can you please tell me what to do?
– Musclegirl
I know someone who went to Marie France and one to Slimmers World and both came out with smaller arms.
Remember, always get advice from a qualified trainer. That way, you won’t endanger your health and you’ll get better results.
I’d recommend that you do a full-body-weight training routine, rather than focus on just your arms.
At home, you can try light exercises, like lifting light weights (maybe five to eight pounds)  higher weights will make you bulk up, which is not what you want. You can google some good arm workouts that will help you get the lean muscles that you desire.
All the best with your goals!
