The Nu way of looking at skincare

PENNY LANE - PENNY LANE By Rebecca C. Rodriguez -
Summer is a season of irony. Caucasian women flock to the beaches or tanning salons to get that bronzed Cleopatra look. On the other hand, Asian women are buying skin-whitening products that make their skin as white as geishas. All in the name of beauty.

They say white skin is beautiful and the pressure to have it is tremendous. Whitening products are all over the counters since they promise to make the skin a few shades lighter by suppressing the production of melanin, the skin’s pigmenting agent. Many products contain hydroquinone, a chemical that in high doses can cause severe skin damage and actually darken the skin even more. Scary, huh?

The thing is, whitening is not about getting a chemical peel or drinking bleaching pills to be as white as Michael Jackson. It is all about making the skin clean and translucent by getting rid of dark spots, freckles, and uneven skin tone. This is why Nu Skin recently launched Tri-Phasic White, a comprehensive skin-brightening system that systematically enhances the skin-brightening process for a natural and brilliant complexion. Since the pigmentation process discolors the skin, Tri-Phasic White minimizes it.

Excess production of melanin causes skin discoloration and overall skin darkening. Other factors such as hormones from pregnancy, stress, pollution, and sunlight cause melanin production as well. The pigmentation process has three phases – activation, synthesis, and expression. Dr. Thomas Schultz, Nu Skin vice president for R&D, says, "The activation stage is when melanin production is initiated while synthesis stage is when melanin is produced. In the last stage, expression is when melanin is transported to the surface of the skin."

Other companies who offer whitening products only deal with the synthesis stage. "Nu Skin goes beyond because it provides optimum skincare which focuses on what the individual needs for the skin," adds Schultz.

Through research, each product from the Tri-Phasic White system uses different key ingredients that complement each other to attack the three phases of the discoloration process effectively. The ultimate goal of whitening is to make the skin healthy by improving the immunities of the skin cells themselves.

Tania Smith, Nu Skin sales and marketing director for North America, says, "Nu Skin is not just about selling products but creating lifelong friends. The company focuses on the longevity of the skin from daily skincare, special treatments and ethno-botanical skincare. We take care of the skin inside out by concentrating on the skin’s health and other concerns with the help of experts."

The Tri-Phasic White system is gentle on the skin and can be used on all skin types. There are five steps to achieving a radiant complexion:
Tri-Phasic White Cleanser
This pearl-white moisturizing mousse cleanses and brightens the skin by reducing the expression stage of discoloration. The main ingredient is creatinine, which slows down pigments from transferring to the skin’s surface. This is the first step to a luminous complexion.
Tri-Phasic White Toner
After cleaning the skin, a toner will remove excess impurities. The Tri-Phasic White Toner contains fairtrex (non-acid exfoliation complex) and carnosine (blocks irritation receptors) that reduce the expression stage and minimize the activation stage of discoloration. This is done by speeding up the process of removing pigmentation from the skin, giving it a glistening appearance.
Tri-Phasic White Essence
This product is truly the essence of the Tri-Phasic White system because it calms the oxidation process that is happening as a bi-product of the skin. Basically, it stops melanin from producing. This product contains brightex, a proprietary ingredient blend that works in illuminating the complexion of the skin.
Tri-Phasic White Day Milk Lotion
The Tri-Phasic White Day Milk Lotion moisturizes while helping target the daytime factors that can trigger discoloration. It contains hexapeptide-2, which works "to inhibit the activation of complexion-dimming discoloration, which partially blocks the hormone receptor." This product also contains UVA/UVB sunscreen with SPF 15 that helps absorb and reflect high-energy sunrays. This is definitely what you need to block those harmful rays.
Tri-Phasic White Night Cream
Sleep rejuvenates the skin. The last step of the Tri-Phasic White System is the Night Cream. It targets the activation phase of the skin-brightening process by inhibiting stress receptors through the key ingredient, diacetyl boldine. This is the last step to a luminous complexion.

Since nothing is better than clean and clear skin in enhancing one’s image and self-confidence, Nu Skin’s Tri-Phasic White is something to look forward to. This system works to lessen the effects of discoloration and is effective in restoring the skin’s radiant glow. Dark spots, uneven skin tone, and discoloration are reduced. It also prevents the formation of new dark spots and even skin tone is maintained.

Look at the mirror and examine your skin. If your skin tone has become dull, yellow and darker, or lost clarity, it is time to start using whitening-care products. In particular, special attention is required during summer, since the amount of sunrays increases considerably and skin gets exposed to sunlight more frequently.

It does not matter what skin tone you have, or whether you have dark or fair complexion. Being comfortable in your own skin will definitely make you feel like the fairest one of all.
