Just when you think,dahlings, that only dressy leather shoes have a right to carry an Italian name, here comes renowned Fila, one of the most innovative names in athletic footwear, with its latest line of cutting-edge shoes called Pininfarina.
This eye-catching new line, palanggas, has extraordinarily combined tradition with sophistication and advanced aerodynamic technology. It was launched at the popular Eat in RCBC Plaza with loads of confetti, loud cheers, and must cocktails.
Basketball star and Fila endorser, the mighty Chris Jackson, made his entrance in a sleek silver motorcycle. He was followed by that gorgeous babe with tons of style, Joey Mead in another bike. Both wore the latest Fila apparel and accessories and Pininfarina shoes, naturellement.
Getting as much attention were hardcourt hotshots, Chris’ co-Fila-philes Dindo Pumaren of FedEx, Elmer Lago of Talk ‘n’ Text, and rookie Miguel Noble of Alaska. All three ditched their three-point shot routines that night to pose on the platforms, showcasing varied Pininfarina choices.
"Pininfarina is a classic and important example of Italian style with its unique and elegant design for the world’s mobile market," explained to moi by Visions & Expressions PR wonder woman Susan Joven. "Its single frame is a new concept for the shoe’s upper exterior complete with a medical and lateral preformed quarter of synthetic leather."
Pininfarina’s solid and comfortable treads do well in any surface. The evergrind completes the special sole design that supplies the runner, jogger, or plain fashion-conscious persona with the correct mix of toehold and adhesion to any kind of surface regardless of weather condition.
An extensive fashion show of Pininfarina and Fila’s Apparel Collection, palanggas, took place during cocktails. Apres came the hardcourt stars’ routine, styled in drag racing fashion, streetwear, and traditional but fashionable sportswear. Both male and female models strutted shod in Pininfarina lines and sportswear–Running; Basketball; Gold; Tennis; Fitness in Outdoor.
Welcoming Fila’s newest baby in town, palanggas, were the company’s dynamic super couple, magnum entrepreneur Butch Albert and hardworking, gorgeous Cris Casa-Albert. Seen applauding with approval over the new line were ageless beauty and brains, Wanda Louwallien; Young Star magazine editor Ginggay Joven; attractive Lexi Schulze; Javi Berenguer; super nice dude Noel de la Merced; FTV’s beautiful sister and brother team, the Mananquils’ pride and joy, Rissa Samson and brother Robby; Robot Abad Santos; Radjan Gidwani; close pal-sy wal-sy Bledes Fores and witty Malu Fernandez; Bibot Laurel and Pamela Valdez; our very own STAR EVP, bubbly Grace Glory Go; and dashing Ralph Joseph of Ralph’s Wines and Spirits, natch, who provided the endless booze and softdrinks.

During dinner, enterprising beauty Betsy T. was thrilled as she announced their plans to open a Tender Bob’s outlet at Greenbelt’s exciting new Plaza 2. Tender Bob’s Express will offer excellent steaks and other meat entrees at easy-on-your-wallet fastfood prices. It will be as fun as the eye-catching new mall where some state of the art movie theaters and restos will also open soon.
Bob and Betsy’s invitees simply "ooh-ed and aah-ed" at the tender juicy delicious US Angus Roast Beef served with their all-time favorite sauce.
If you’re still not in the know, palanggas, Tender Bob’s is now into catering. So, if you are thinking of holding a bash, you know who to call. The guests who simply threw out their diets and calorie-counting that night sampled the array of fresh healthy salads with interesting strawberry vinaigrette dressing plus walnuts and the blue-cheese stuffed lychees on top of their famous caesar’s salad plus delectable appetizers and heavenly new entrees.

The grand Rizal ballroom of the colossal Makati Shangri-La was one of the hottest places to be in last Friday, dahlings. The ballroom was transformed into a grand art gallery for the opening night of The Art of Boban.
Let me tell you something: Mega talented artist Boban is absolutely awesome. What fantastic artwork he has! It’s no wonder that Boban has his own book and is a mega star in Chicago and New York. He’s practically a hero in his country, Serbia.
And his sculptures? Well, you really have to see them to believe them. Imagine winged figures balancing on three toes…made of spoons! Yes, palanggas, you read that right–spoons and forks plus knives from guess what? The prestigious Japanese company that produces top-of-the-line silverware, Oneida.
"This artist is fantastic!" That’s what everyone who went and saw for themselves had to say. Tall and elegant Boban stole the show with his semi-long hair and his Serbian accent.
The grand curator of this one-of-a-kind show is a well-known artist herself in Cosmo Manille’s arty world. Contagiously vivacious eye-catcher Isabel Echevarria Rocha was responsible for arranging and setting up the entire exhibition.
The Yrezabal clan all beamed with joy, starting off with Boban’s super buddy Perma Caine inventor, Eddie Y. and his sisters, Marilou, Maryanne, and Marilen Y. The special guest of honor was gorgeous as ever, Body Beautiful herself Cory Quirino; with Atom Henares and daughter Cristal proxying for Dr. Vicky Belo; Philip Brodett and Lourdes Miranda proxying for mom, Piluchi Gavino.
