A love to last forever

- Maurice Arcache -
A refreshing breeze apres a hot, hot day rustled softly in the tree-lined entrance to the Santuario de San Antonio at posh-y Forbes Park, dahlings. Excitement was also palpable in the air on that clear starry night a new moon ago.

Virgin white floral arrangements by Mabolo, no less, lined the aisle and altar, creating a sense of tranquility inside the church. The groom’s nice parents, el simpatico Joe Clemente and his wife Emma C. welcomed the VIPersonas in their warm and effusive style. One of the best photographers in town, Wig Tysmans and his wife vivacious Carole Lapid-T., the bride’s happy parents, paced giddily in anticipation of the grand affair.

For the first time, palanggas, Wig T. attended a wedding, not as the premier photographer, but as the father of the bride. The groom, super nice Luis Martin Clemente, smiled and shook hands with famille and guests as he awaited his bride.

Radiant Patricia Kay Tysmans sat and waved from the bridal car as well-wishers blew her last-minute kisses.

The wedding march was followed by a ceremony marked with love and warmth. Rev. Fr. Joaquin Bernas, SJ set the evening ’s tone with a homily especially prepared for his two dear friends. Luis and Patty’s smiles never actually left their happy faces that whole night, palanggas.

The grand reception at Hotel Inter-Continental’s Grand Ballroom was a night marked by belly-aching laughter, uninhibited dancing, heartfelt singing, wild fun and passionate kissing!

If you think that lawyers can’t shake off their formal demeanor, palanggas, you’ve been dialing the wrong number. Loads of the couple’s lawyer pals cheered and toasted to the couple’s happiness. Luis C. is an associate at the prestigious Poblador, Bautista and Reyes Law Offices while Patty T. is an asset at the ACCRA Law Offices. Both graduated from the Ateneo Law School, no less.

The super fun wedding reception, dahlings, was filled with surprise and spontaneity. Patricia’s cousin Fritzi Lapid began the program with a soothing love song. Then Peter Zagala and King Reyno, the groom’s good pals, also serenaded the couple and harkened back to their days with Luis as "Kundirana" members at the La Salle high school. Naturellement, there were tons of cajoling apres this bit of info was revealed, since Patty finished her bachelor’s degree at the Ateneo. With the hyper guests egging him on, Luis also performed an impromptu song number for his blushing bride.

Towards the program’s end, Cholo Mallilin, the noted singer of the Bukas Palad Ministry, offered a tres romantic song together all the invited bachelors.

The newlyweds, palanggas, were not only gifted with songs, but also with the most touching tributes to their love and union. Luis’ only brother Jose Clemente and Justin, Patty’s best pal from her elementary and high school years in Baguio, plus Patty’s youngest sister Nash, shared their love, hopes and warm wishes for the newlyweds. Eboy Paez and Joanna Orros, both long-time famille pals, were a delight with their witty and jocular hosting.

One of the reception’s highlights was when Luis and Patty "outdid" the usually shy-ish Joe and Emma Clemente in showing what a long and passionate kiss is all about. Loud applause, cheers and whistles broke out as the young couple gamely took the challenge and emerged the winners! That’s what a deep breath inhaled by young lungs can do, palanggas.

The gang hit the dance floor and boogied until almost 2 a.m. while continuing to have their fill of good food and flowing wine. The beautiful wedding cake by talented Penk Tan-Ching was a fitting finale to the sumptuous feast.

From the reception’s start to the end, Patty Tysmans- Clemente looked absolutely radiant in her gorgeous wedding gown created by one of the best young blood around, Rustan’s in-house designer Rhett Eala, no less, as she took to the dance floor with her husband, and then later on, with her proud and smiling father, Wig T.

Indeed, palanggas, the wedding signaled a great beginning for Luis and Patty. As they moved around the ballroom hand in hand, hugging and thanking famille and pals, one could feel that their love would no doubt last forever and ever.

Ponana opens with a splash
The timing was perfect, albeit unintended, dahlings. Just as bars all over town shut their doors one apres the other, Ponana in Libis, the metropolis’ worst-kept secret, held the splashiest grand opening in recent memory. Night owls sighed with satisfaction as they stumbled into the most pumping hot spot in Cosmo Manille.

Ponana is a Moroccan-inspired fantasy that awes you with the most breathtaking bar interior, palanggas. It is a sprawling visual feast that evokes warmth and intimacy. Owned by a group of dashing young men under Chrome Management Corp., Ponana aims to be the newest hip place.

Part owner and club manager, back-in-town Hans Montenegro busily did his rounds that night. Party host and organizer for the evening was Tim Yap.

Making the night even more memorable, palanggas, were the Kings of the Night Life and bar owners, Louie Ysmael and EJ Litton, and the cutely outlandish Tessa Prieto-Valdes graciously snipped the ribbon, formally opening the party night and resto.

The "White Party" featured a wall-to-wall crowd of beautiful people dressed in white, all the better to show off their glowing end-of-summer-tans. The collective vibes crackled with electricity, fueled by the bass-thumping tunes and a seemingly inexhaustible open bar.

All roads without a doubt led to Ponana as the hip invitees spilled down the striking three-flight air-conditioned stairway, out its front door and ultimately into the streets.

People watching were People Asia’s Philip Cu-Unjieng; MEGA magazine’s chic ladies, Sari Yap and Lorraine Belmonte; young photo-bug Pepper Teehankee with his uncle, Raul Teehankee; JM Rodriguez; Robin da Roza; gorgeous Southern belle Vina Morales; Studio 23’s Ed Feist and his brother Chris F.; once a hot twosome Audrey Tan and Mike Huang; Local Vibe’s Chuck Syjuco and Bernice Arcenas; Mickey Ferriols; Illac Diaz; top-of-the-line talent manager Jojie Dingcong; Marcel Crespo; Richie and Faith Lavarro; pretty Sasa Montinola; Preview’s Jenina Ali; Seventeen’s Mariel Chua; DJ David Jacob; Maxine Chua; Jim Fontebella with his attractive wife; Mavis Manotoc; plus so many others like them too beautiful and popular to mention, palanggas.

"Ponana" is an exclamatory word from the harbors of Ibiza meaning "This is life! " and a couple of sleeps ago, so it was, palanggas.

While it has been a tragic week, palanggas, we can be sure that in the end, evil will be crushed and punished. Keep praying for our perished and suffering brethren. See you.
