MANILA, Philippines — Bentley Philippines recently celebrated the British marquee’s centenary, marking a heritage of crafting the finest luxury vehicles in its class. For its 100th anniversary, Bentley Philippines had a special luncheon at the British Ambassador’s Residence.

As a tribute, history panels which told the story of the cars and the people that shaped Bentley were showcased alongside its latest models: the Continental GT, complete with Centenary Specification, and the Bentayga. Only the vehicles which were manufactured in its Crewe factory in England in 2019 are fitted with special designs to remember the marquee’s extraordinary feat.

“I feel a deep sense of pride being with everyone here today. The remarkable milestone merits a fitting celebration to honor the efforts of everyone who has been a part of Bentley’s rich history, from the past up until the present,” said Benedicto Coyiuto, Bentley Philippines head.

British Ambassador Daniel Pruce gave his special message on this remarkable event. “Happy birthday to Bentley! This is a wonderful day today, 100 years of Bentley has been manufacturing these wonderful, beautiful, world-leading cars and I’m delighted that they are increasingly popular here in the Philippines and Bentley’s activity here is going from strength to strength.”

Broadway birthday bash for MVP

Meralco feted its chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan on his birthday recently with a Broadway-themed cocktail party and musical program under the baton of National Artist Ryan Cayabyab.

Led by Meralco president and CEO Ray Espinosa, the celebration was a heartfelt affair with MVP’s whole family and Meralco’s officers and staff paying tribute to the chairman. Performers included theater thespians Menchu and Raymond Lauchengco, Ms. Saigon actors Jon Joven and Aicelle Santos, and fresh talents Gab Pangilinan and Jef Flores. No less impressive was a number by the Meralco Chorale, which did a medley of songs from Wicked, led by its director Lyn Carpio. The program was hosted by singer-comedian Jon Santos.

In his speech, Ray Espinosa acknowledged “gravitas and greatness” in the room, and with a nod to the audience ushered the happy birthday song.

Meralco’s lobby was transformed into a Broadway-themed lounge with a huge bar and a special drink for the night aptly called “The Chairman”.
