Metrobank Card Corporation unveils Yazz card at 30th-anniversary celebration

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Metrobank Card Corporation (MCC), one of the most trusted and pioneering financial institutions in the Philippines, recently celebrated 30 years of credit card payment solution excellence at the glittering ballroom of Sofitel Philippine Plaza. The event, aptly titled “Making History,” highlighted the milestones that made the company the top card issuer in the country.

Hosted by Chico Garcia and Gino Quillamor of Monster Radio RX 93.1, the night gathered the biggest names in the banking and credit card industry, including Metrobank chairman Arthur Ty and Metrobank president Fabian Dee.

Honoring the occasion, president of Metrobank Card Corporation Riko Abdurrahman welcomed guests and shared his well wishes: “Thirty years ago, the entire MCC would have fit in only a small function room. But our vision and our dreams would already have filled up this grand ballroom, and more. This, I believe, is part of our reason for having gone this far and having soared this high: we are visionaries and we are dreamers. For MCC, we have grown from less than 50 people to now more than 1,000, moving in rank from number eight to number one in the market.”

As it celebrated its 30th anniversary, Metrobank Card Corporation renewed its commitment to putting people first, serving its customers, promising more innovative products and quality services to empower the everyday Filipino, and staying true to its brand promise of “exploring endless possibilities.”

In his speech, Dee also encouraged the MCC group to strive to build a stronger, more memorable legacy: “We are not at the end of a long road but the start of one. I define our first 30 years as a great beginning. And it’s up to all of us, of course, to define the years ahead of us: more years of excellence, dedication and magnificence — only to be made possible by your commitment and dedication, your powerful foresight and your incredible work.”

Apart from recognizing exemplary employees for their loyalty and service, Metrobank Card Corporation capped the grand anniversary by revealing its newest product innovation: the Yazz Prepaid Reloadable Visa card.

The Yazz card is a general-purpose prepaid reloadable card that allows cashless transactions with 40 million accredited Visa merchants, including online stores and ATMs worldwide. Offering the power of convenience, security, availability and access in just one card,

Yazz cards will be sold at retail establishments like malls, supermarkets, convenience stores, and MRT stations, among many other locations.

First established in 1985 as Unibancard Corporation, and renamed through a joint venture with Metrobank and Australia New Zealand (ANZ) Bank in 2003, Metrobank Card Corporation has since become the top credit-card issuer in the Philippines based on the Credit Card Association of the Philippines (CCAP) report, with an estimated 1.5 million credit cardholders as of June 2015.

Gaining the loyalty of its clientele through good service, ground-breaking products and exciting promotions that cater to the evolving needs and demands of its customers, Metrobank Card Corporation has steadily grown into one of the most trusted and dynamic credit card brands.  To date, Metrobank Card Corporation has over 16 credit card products and services that cater to the different lifestyles and needs of its customers.
