Globe Business toasts uptrend in expansion and growth
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine information technology-business process management (IT-BPM) industry continues its uptrend in expansion and growth in 2014. In terms of voice services, it has maintained its top position in the world, providing for a better life and future to a talent pool consisting of over a million Filipinos. Indeed, the sector has more than enough reasons to take stock.
At the welcome gala of the 2014 International IT-BPM Summit, Globe Business celebrated these achievements with performances by the best homegrown musical talents, which, like the state of our local outsourcing segment, are nothing short of world-class.
In his speech, Globe executive vice president and chief operating officer for International and Business Markets Gil Genio underscored the distinct Filipino trait of pagpupunyagi or determination. “We rise up and work hard no matter how many times we fall — a trait that is reflective of the way we work and the way we dream as a nation. It reminds all of us that no matter who we are, what we have or where we came from, we can aspire for greatness.”
Noted senior vice president Nikko Acosta, “This is our way of saluting the indomitable Filipino spirit. Despite being one of the most disaster-prone nations, the world entrusts their businesses to the Philippines. More than our trademark brand of caring, it is the resilience and perseverance of our local IT-BPM workforce that sets Filipinos apart from the rest of the world. After every storm, we get up quick and go about our daily lives with a smile.”
Taking a cue from the Globe executives, the welcome gala for the 2014 IIS was set to rousing music from multi-awarded singer and power belter Bituin Escalante, the Philippines’ Soul Princess Jonalyn Viray, rock icon and The Dawn front man Jeff Pangan as well as The Voice semifinalist Thor Dulay.
