Globe Tattoo talks trends in the club scene & dance music

John A. Magsaysay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - There is so much talk going around these days. With communication as simple as a click, a share, a post, or a like, it is hard for the social media set to tell fact from fallacy, gossip from truth, trendy from train wreck.

Luckily, Globe Tattoo Broadband went the extra bandwidth to bring its 2.2 million-strong subscribers Trend Talk, a multimedia platform that brings the world wide web’s emerging lifestyle innovations and cultural breakthroughs right to our smartphones.

“We at Tattoo recognize that need and we have not stopped building avenues for our customers to be at the forefront of what is up and coming,” Dong Ronquillo, VP for Globe Tattoo Nomadic Broadband, explained to the trend-watchers and tastemakers in Makati’s underground nightclub Black Market. Modeled after the world’s leading ideas forum TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design), whose global conferences help ignite newer ways of living and thinking since 1984, Tattoo Trend Talks transform modern-day thinking with local taste but global flair.

“As we launch Tattoo Trend Talks today, there’s no better topic to kick it off with, but music!” Globe senior vice president for broadband business Gilbert Simpao announced with an enthusiasm that matched the night’s beats, courtesy of the country’s budding indie artists and EDM (Electronic Dance Music) DJs. “This first salvo introduces a very strong lineup of speakers from here and abroad and we really hope that with an event like this, we get to inspire and motivate more people to pursue their passions and defy expectations.”

With a topic close to the hearts and headphones of Filipinos, Tattoo Trend Talks teams up with leading digital music platform Spotify in enhancing its debut experience for the young and dynamic market. Gathering the most revolutionary local and international EDM DJs, Tattoo Trend Talks was certainly off to an energizing start.

“We want to be able to give the audience a stimulating experience and eventually inspire them through our roster of speakers,” Ronquillo stressed further before unveiling Tattoo’s list of debut speakers. “On its first run, Trend Talks will tackle the evolution of dance music and the club scene here in the Philippines.”

Set to skyrocket at the Grand Ballroom of Solaire Resorts & Casino on May 30, the first installment of Tattoo Trend Talks will feature Manila’s most revered DJs Mars Miranda, Nicky Jurado, and society-heiress and ruling global club-queen Katrina “Katsu” Razon side by side with international EDM spinners Mikail Schemm, Ingo Vogelmann, and Pav Parrote as they trade the turntables for the podium in discussing the trends in electronic dance music.

Pioneering party capitalist, Driven Manila’s Domini Primero, Big Fish chief operating officer Ricky Daker, and clubbing cognoscenti Stephen Ku reveal the good business behind the beat-heavy, booze-fueled party scene. And topping the registry of Tattoo Trend speakers is international dance music royal Armin Van Buuren, whose “Armin Only: Intense” concert at the Mall of Asia Arena is bound to be the culminating aria for the resounding event.

“With Trend Talks being a quarterly event, we can only assume that the topics and roster of speakers will get better and better,” Simpao said.
