Ayala Malls’ Fairview Terraces rises in the city

MANILA, Philippines - There’s something appealing about the concept of a terrace in architecture, where its function is primarily for leisure, where you can stand or sit idly, overlooking the landscape or watch the passing scene below. This must be what the designers of Ayala Mall’s Fairview Terraces had in mind.

Most of the dining options in the multi-level mall look out to the Central Garden, where the centerpiece is a full-grown mango tree that was carefully preserved during construction. In fact, a total of 14 mature trees in the lot were preserved, which include two mango trees, a santol tree, and a balete tree, ensuring the healthy balance of nature and structure that is the signature of every Ayala Land mixed-use development.

The mall’s logo — five circles, each propped up by vertical lines that “look like lollipops,” according to Ayala Land vice president and head of business development and strategic planning-commercial business group Cora Dizon (but which actually represent trees) — “reflects what the development is all about.”

Imagine yourself unwinding after a shopping spree at the rooftop garden or in any of the al fresco dining outlets on the third or fourth floor. As in all the other Ayala Malls, there’s an Activity Centre at the heart of the mall, where special shows, popular bands as well as foreign acts are lined up throughout the year.

“Enjoy life’s simple pleasures with people you love,” said Rowena Tomeldan, Ayala Land vice president and head of operations and support services-commercial business group. “It’s life as it should be.”

Fairview Terraces is “our latest and one of our best developments,” Ayala Land president and CEO, Antonio Aquino, remarked at the press conference held at Crisostomo restaurant during the soft opening of the mall recently. “Here we’ve integrated all our product offerings.” These include the shopping center, a corporate center, a supermarket in partnership with the popular chain Puregold, and for the first time, a department store. Wellworth, which is a joint venture of Ayala Land and Stores Specialists Inc. (SSI), will carry a wide range of merchandise with both local private labels and international brands.

Fairview Terraces brings a mix of merchants, for the first time to this side of town, such as fashion stores Old Navy, Terranova, Aéropostale, Superdry, American Eagle, Trilogie Unlimited, Yishion, Team Manila, and Petrol; home and specialty stores Chefs & Bakers, Regalong Pambahay, True Value, Toys R Us, Roy & Biv, Fresh Fragrance Bar, American Tourister, and Samsonite; and food outlets Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Chili’s, Manam, Banapple, Café Pascucci, Marciano’s, Crisostomo, Cara Mia, Sonja’s Cupcakes, Buffalo’s & Chubby’s, Johnny Rockets, and Chicken Deli.

What’s more, a number of stores not yet found in other Ayala Malls will be making their debut at Fairview Terraces. These include food outlet Fishman; fashion stores Camaeiu, Shana, Basic House, Dune and Alera Coutoure; specialty store Supreme Celebrations; as well as Beauty and Butter, Brow Lounge, Lavish Lashes Studio, French Tips, and Sports Barber for beauty and wellness services. Dermcare Luxe also opened a branch at Fairview Terraces.

Funky Fish, a fashion accessories and concept store for young girls, originally from Spain, opened its first store in Asia in Ayala Malls’ Fairview Terraces. You’ll also find a couple of homegrown brands at the mall such as Il Padrino Coffee and Balai Pandesal.

While Fairview Terraces introduces a number of new names and concepts, shoppers can still expect the same superior market mix of value, variety, quality and service that Ayala Malls are known for, Tomeldan noted. Over 420 shopping, entertainment and dining destinations can be found at Fairview Terraces. Also slated to open soon is Ayala Land’s Kasa Lounge with its residential showrooms, concierge services, VIPinoy privileges and Family Lounge. It’s a total package that is meant to elevate the lifestyle and well-being of the community. Just 300 meters away from the complex is an Ayala Land-Avida residential development.

Ayala Malls’ Fairview Terraces is located along Quirino Highway corner Maligaya Drive in Barangay Pasong Putik, Novaliches, in the north end of Quezon City. Following the construction of wider roads and the extension of the MRT, the swelling tide of progress sweeps northward, with the area serving as the gateway to the eastern part of Bulacan. “Everybody is excited with this development,” Aquino noted.

Sometimes teasingly called “Far-view” by those who live on the opposite side of the city, “Its time has come,” Aquino remarked. To which a delighted resident responded triumphantly, “It’s about time!”
