Shell bags four Anvil Awards
MANILA, Philippines - The Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) has recognized Shell companies in the Philippines (SciP) for exemplary communications programs showcasing its social investment projects across various stakeholder sectors — from arts and culture to road safety and community health — at the recent 49th Anvil Awards held at Solaire Resort and Casino in Pasay City.
The gas technology leader and sustainable mobility proponent bagged four Anvils from the most prestigious award-giving body in the local public relations industry, rising above more than 300 entries in the competition.
The 46th Shell National Students Art Competition, the longest-running art contest in the country focused on student artists, received an Anvil Award of Excellence in Arts and Culture for sustained public relations programs. Through a stringent competition process complemented by valuable interaction with renowned Filipino art masters, Shell continues to hone young talents in the craft and keep visual arts relevant in youth development and nation building.
Further focusing on educating young minds, this time with road safety as the theme, Project KALSADA (Kabataang Ligtas sa Sakuna at Disgrasya) also received an Anvil Award of Excellence in the Youth and Children’s Welfare category. The strong partnership of Shell with the respective local governments of the communities where it operates — such as Pandacan in Manila, Palawan, and Bacolod — has led to reduction in reported accidents by as much as 41 percent.
Meanwhile, the internal SciP campaign dubbed “I COMMIT. Think. Act. Work. With Integrity†received an Anvil Award of Merit in Good Governance for sustained public relations programs. “I COMMIT†helped institute the values of personal and business integrity among all Shell staff in the Philippines. Last year, SciP was recognized by the Integrity Initiative project of the Makati Business Club and the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines as among seven companies in the country with the highest ratings in ethical business practices.
The seminal Movement Against Malaria program under the Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. also garnered an Anvil Award of Merit in External Communities, under the category of public relations programs directed at specific stakeholders. The Global Fund-supported program has now been implemented in 40 highly malaria-endemic provinces across the Philippines.
“These awards gain increased significance and affirmation for us at Shell as we celebrate our centennial in the Philippines this year,†said Pilipinas Shell vice president for communications Roberto Kanapi. â€We are inspired to continue to deliver excellence and results in our various social investment programs and activities, and just as importantly as well, in the way we communicate these advocacies for the benefit of our stakeholders and the public.â€
