PhilSeven Foundation Inc. gives back through medical mission

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Lending a hand to those in dire need of attention indeed changes lives. Advancing this worthy cause is Philippine Seven Corp., through its corporate social responsibility arm PhilSeven Foundation Inc. (PFI), as it continues its tradition of giving back to the community via a medical mission held recently in Parañaque City.

An essential cornerstone of PhilSeven Foundation Inc.’s corporate social giving, the medical mission — with the support of the local government, volunteer medical professionals and private partners — sought to enhance and lend immediate health assistance to needy patients.

Volunteer doctors and medical students, mainly pediatricians, ophthalmologists, family and internal medicine and a geriatrics doctor from University of Sto. Tomas-Zeta Beta Mu Fraternity and UP-PGH- Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity provided their time and professional services for free.

Apart from treatments and free medical checkup, the beneficiaries — a total of 948 indigent patients — also received complete sets of prescribed medicines and multivitamins.

Medicines and vitamins were purchased by PFI from Erickagen Inc. owner of Generika Drugstore, which sold it at a  low price as part of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activity.  The company also brought along pharmacists, nurses and volunteers to help in the organized dispensing of medicines.

Sponsored by CDO, Nature’s Spring, Selecta and Arlee’s bread, the event was attended by Parañaque City Mayor Jun Bernabe, Vice Mayor Gus Tambunting, Conuncilor Benjo Bernabe and Social Welfare head Dean Calleja together with PSC operations division mManager and PFI trustee Liwayway Fernandez, PSC HRAD manager and PFI Mancom chairperson Violeta Apolinario, PSC business development division manager and PFI trustee Francis Medina and PSC Employees Council, PSC employee-volunteers from HR, operations-support, finance and BDD.

“Now more than ever, there is a need for everyone to join forces to help others. By coming together, we were able to contribute to the betterment of our needy fellowmen,” said Israelita S. Ferrer-Lequin, agency head, PhilSeven Foundation, Inc.
