Jaguar launches all-new XJ
MANILA, Philippines - Manila’s crème de la crème recently made way for the launch of Jaguar’s “brightest diamond,” the all-new Jaguar XJ, at the hip Republiq in Newport City, Pasay. British Ambassador Stephen Lillie was guest of honor at the event.
“The all-new XJ is Jaguar’s most daring saloon yet with a new look that deviates from the classic British styling the XJ series is known for,” said Jaguar Overseas Operations manager Mick Razza.
The British marque’s flagship sedan is the epitome of fluid, contemporary automotive style. The elongated teardrop shape of the side windows establishes the car’s silhouette balanced by a dramatic lower swage line emanating from the front wheels. With the all-new XJ, Jaguar pioneers the use of advanced new technologies, driver displays, and infotainment systems that set a new benchmark within its segment.
“We are confident that the all-new XJ will re-ignite interest in the brand,” Razza added. And indeed, it already has. After its recent launch in the UK, the Jaguar XJ outsold both the Mercedes S Class by 38 percent and the BMW 7 Series by 70 percent in its first month last June.
In the Philippines, a small segment in the high-end market remains passionate about Jaguar cars, according to Jaguar Philippines Inc. (JPI) chairman and president Wellington Soong.
“There are those who already own Jaguars who look forward to getting new Jaguars, while others just accumulate their Jaguars. Our customer base consists of the most loyal clients we have had,” Soong said.
JPI has been the exclusive distributor of Jaguar since 1997. For the Philippines, JPI will offer the long-wheel-base, 238kW naturally aspirated V8 version of the all-new XJ. At the heart of the all-new XJ’s construction is a next-generation application of Jaguar’s unique lightweight vehicle architecture. Primarily aluminum but also utilizing magnesium and composite alloys, it allows Jaguar to produce a significantly lighter and stiffer body — the lightest in its class. And along with the XF, it is the most aerodynamic Jaguar ever.
UK’s What Car? magazine recently declared the all-new Jaguar XJ the winner in the Green Awards for its developed sustainability in motoring by implementing new lightweight aluminum body structure and advanced engines.
